If you don’t have a current love connection for Valentine’s Day, it’s not too late to start planning: stop showering and build up a nice stock of pheromones in a smelly T-shirt… and let the games begin. It works, apparently. Rusty Blazenhoff just uncovered photos of the Pheromone Party, a Brooklyn event that spawned all manner of love connections via smelly T-shirts.
People who attended the Brooklyn Pheromone Party–part fun, part science fair experiment–swapped smelly t-shirts in an attempt to make a love connection based on the chemical attraction–that is, by huffing other people’s pheromones. Every attendee had to bring a shirt they had wore to bed for the past three days, no perfume or deodorant allowed.
The event in Brooklyn in 2010 had impressive results; a little more than 25% of attendees “hooked up,” and of those, about half ended up in longer term romances. ”I was told my events are ‘what parties should be,’” writes Judith Prays, the Georgia-based artist who had the idea in the first place.
So when is Brooklyn Pheromone Party 2012? Unfortunately, Judith Prays now lives in Atlanta, where she directs videos, raps, and owns a round bed. And sadly, the official website of The Pheromone Party has been taken over by a spammer (lemonade diet, ecommerce hosting much?). What brave and smelly organizer can take on this great event and make it a reality again?
