Parents of children at The Weeksville School in Bedford-Stuyvesant are coming forward to report potentially inappropriate contact with Taleek Brooks, NBC New York is reporting.
Taleek Brooks, a former teacher’s aide at the school, has been arrested for allegedly making child pornography, according to law enforcement officials.
In a video posted on the NBC New York website, a parent tells a reporter her son was “punched in his privates and smacked on his butt” by Brooks. In the video, the parent claims that Brooks told the boy he would be “punched in his face” if he told his mother about the alleged contact.
FBI agents visited the school, not only to meet with administrators and parents, but to check out classrooms in an attempt to match them up with videos, reports say. According to a criminal complaint filed Tuesday, shows Brooks in a school classroom spanking a naked child and touching a child’s genitals.
Brooks worked at the Bedford-Stuyvesant school for over 16 years, and led an all-boys dance group, according to NY Daily News.
One parent had an “inkling” that there was an issue when Brooks gave clothes to her son, called her son as late as 3 a.m., and offered to let her son take an extra bedroom in his apartment; that boy is now 12, the Daily News report says.
“I had issues with him. I had words with him. I told him to stay away,” the parent is quoted as saying in the Daily News. ““I asked my son if anything happened and he isn’t saying anything.”
