By our calculations, subway deaths today are up 3100% vs normal. OK… it’s only two deaths, but stilll, this is definitely out of the ordinary.
In Brooklyn, today at 4 pm, a man was fatally hit by an A train leaving Nostrand Avenue. Trains were bypassing the station as the investigation continued. Proving that bad things happen in twos, another man was hit and killed by the L train at Third Ave earlier in the day. Brian O’Mara, 22 years old, a financial analyst who lived in Garden City, was struck when he was walking on the tracks.
Estimates we’ve seen say that about 20-50 people die on the subway each year. So if every day was like today, we’d be on track for 800+ subway fatalities this year!
