Latest PostsTaleek Brooks, a teacher’s aide at a Brooklyn school, was just arrested again by the FBI, NYPOST.com is reporting. Authorities said Brooks was charged with producing videos of child pornography using students at PS 243 (known as The Weeksville School, in Bedford-Stuyvesant), the grade school where he worked.
(Note: Some reports place the Weeksville School in Crown Heights; and some reports spell the defendant’s name as Tyleek Brooks.)
This is the second time in the past 2 weeks that the FBI has charged Brooks in relation to illegal possession of films that depict children engaging in sex acts, according to the Post.
Parents were already upset last month when Brooks was allegedly found swapping child porn online, according to CBS New York; and now, the FBI alleges that there are videos that “captured conduct taking place in a school classroom” and they said that “Brooks also videotaped himself spanking a naked child.”
Brooks was described by parents as a “friendly presence,” participating in extracurricular activities–and often had a camera on hand, says CBS New York, who quoted a parent, Latasha Chapman: “It’s a shame. Our kids are not safe anymore in these schools… It’s really ridiculous.”

The last time Brooks was arrested, in January, he allegedly confessed to the FBI that he had more than 1,000 files. According to the criminal complaint, investigators took a computer and two hard drives out of Brooks’s bedroom and discovered videos showing Brooks in a classroom, spanking and touching naked children (and officials told Metro New York yesterday “they fear that classroom is at PS 243″).
Taleek Brooks could receive as much as 15 years in jail. According to NY1, Brooks has been an employee of the Department of Education since 1993, and has been with PS 243, The Weeksville School, since 1995.
Schools Commissioner Dennis Walcott spoke to teachers and the parent coordinator at The Weeksville School yesterday, saying: “As chancellor, and as a father, I am horrified and disgusted at the charges we learned of today from the FBI … Our paramount concern is for the safety of our students, and we are cooperating fully with the federal authorities as they continue their investigation.”
As the investigation at The Weeksville School continues, the FBI is asking anyone who has information to call 212-384-5000.
