The Yard, a New Coworking Space in Williamsburg, is Already 65% Full

The Yard, Coworking Space in Williamsburg - BetaBeat

In the wake of failed attempts by others at making a coworking space work in Williamsburg, Morris Levy and Richard Beyda have opened The Yard, a 14,000-square-foot coworking space that is already 65% full despite being open for just 3 months. Somewhat unexpectedly, about 60-70% of occupants are techies, including outfits such as Hype MachineWanderfly, and Uber. “We knew there was a need in Williamsburg/Greenpoint for something like this, but we didn’t realize the tech scene was happening here, and that (tech companies) was the direction it was going to go,” Morris Levy said in an interview with Betabeat. The Yard hosts events including the North Brooklyn Breakfast Club, and there may be a “strategic alliance” in the works with Charlie O’Donnell, the guy who just launched a Brooklyn-centric  venture capital fund. The Yard is not an open floorplan space, but rather, has approximately 100 offices–so is that really co-working, then, with all those walls?
