Strength training advice

I hate strength training. I get so bored, I run screaming out of the weight room after about 10 minutes. Thing is, I want to be healthy. So can anyone recommend a good routine for a healthy female who does 30-40 minutes of cardio 4x a week? So far, I do crunches and the leg press. Your challenge is to find something for me to do that will make/keep me healthy but not bang my head against the machine out of shear boredom. Thanks all!

  • I say don't use machines. They do make it a bit brainless an endeavor. Grab some dumbbells and either use a balance ball to sit on or sit on the bench. Stick to some very basic upper boddy stuff (bicep curls, tricep extensions, bench press, shoulder presses, etc.), do about four sets of each, and you're going to help your metabolism a whole lot since you'll be building more lean muscle. You're not necessarily going to bulk up. That's always my wife's biggest fear, but every expert she's ever talked to has her going back to weights.

    Of course, stick with the rest of what you're doing.
