Runners Monday June 30: Check Out the Brooklyn Hash

Start: Corner of Lorimer And Metropolitan

Transit: Lorimer on the L, Metropolitan on the G

In case you haven't heard of us, The Brooklyn Hash House Harriers is a group of runners who meet at a predetermined location in the Borough of Brooklyn. They are part of a loosely organized worldwide network of hashes, also known as a drinking club with a running problem. Some people run fast, others run slow. Actually, the same thing can be said about the drinking. It all depends on your ability and anyone is welcome, at least anyone 21 and older.

A member of the group (the hare) presets a trail using a system of chalk marks along the way. The rest of the group tries to follow the trail, and if all goes well, they end up at a drinking establishment, have some refreshing beverages, and a bite to eat. Food and beverages are prearranged and each runner contributes hash cash (usually $15) to pay their share. Trails are usually between 3 and 5 miles. You can bring a small bag with a change of clothes to the start and the hare will bring it to the bar. Hashes are rain or shine. All of this will be explained to you at the start. If you want to find out more now, check out this page.

If you've never hashed before or just want to join us again, this is a great way to give it a shot. Please PM me if you have any questions.
