GOOD MORNING, FRIENDS
WEATHER IS NICE, TODAY!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANNA....HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY!!!!
Happy Birthday Anna. You know, since the Chicago area is in a different time zone then most of us, you are actually 1 Hour younger then you think!!!
Just got back from our insurance agents office. Time to renew our Condo insurance and I wanted to be sure we are properly covered. If anyone tells you that home or car insurance is cheaper in Florida tell them they are very wrong. My condo insurance (which only covers inside the house) is $766.00 for one year. My car insurance is over $500 for 6 months. Medicare $200 a month and BC/BS Federal coverage $450 a month. Do not add it up. It will make you dizzy! #-o
Debbie, how were the results of your PT/INR test? I am lucky. I get it done in my Cardiologists office and get the results immediately along with any dosage change. 8-[
HOPE EVERYONE IS WELL.
I WISH SOMEONE WOULD HAVE TOLD ME HOW STRESSFUL COLLEGEAPPLICATIONS ARE TO FILL OUT & EXPENSIVE!! THE ARE RANGING FROM $40 - $80 PER APPLICATION. TONIANN HAS 5 SUNYONES & 1 PACKAGE OF CUNY (6) COST $65.00.NOTICE THE SUNY APPS ARE MUCH HIGHER PRICED FOR JUST ONE. #-o
SHE FOUND OUT YESTERDAY SHE IS IN THE TOP 25% & HER COLLEGE OFFICE TEACHER TOLD HER YESTERDAY THAT PACE & ST. JOHN'S ALREADY INQUIRED ABOUT HER. SHE APPILED TO 5 SUNY& A FEW CUNY,, SHE WANTS TO DO SUNY (NATURALLY)..HOPING FOR SOME SCHOLARSHIPS OR GRANTS,..SOFTBALL COACHES ARE ALSO INQUIRING ABOUT HER. WISH US LUCK!!!
EVERYONE HAVE A GOOD DAY!!
Patsy, Good luck to Toniann on her Apps. One thing we learned when our oldest son applied, sometimes the more expensive schools can get better aid for you and therefore it may not be more expensive in the long run. 8-[
Hi everyone-thank you for my birthday wishes...Warren, you made my day..never thought of the hour difference that way...LOL..had lobster & shrimp last night..unfortunately, Tina, Scott & Justin are all sick with colds & sore throats so they couldn't make dinner with Jessica & Steve..my son called from Detroit (he's away on business) & my friends in Kissimmee Fla. called too..they had a nice party in work yesterday so I ate all day then went to dinner..Saturday my girlfriend's Mom makes a B-day luncheon for us every year-her B-day is the 22nd. bye

YANKEES FANS.. WHAT HAPPENED???A CLEAN SWEEP BY DETROIT. WAY TO GO.
THIS IS TO ALL THE PEOPLE WHO HATE ON THE METS.WAY TO GO, TIGERS!!
EVERYONE.. ENJOY YOUR WEEKEND!!
Happy Sunday all!
Patsy, I am not a real Yankee fan. In fact untill 1958 I was an avid Brooklyn Dodger fan. In the 60's and on I rooted for the Mets but never had the same feeling as I did for the BROOKLYN DODGERS. Never the LA Dodgers. As you can imagine, being an old Brooklyn Dodger fan I was a Yankee hater. However, since I have lived in Florida I have found that most people here have a dislike for anything New York. As a result, I find myself even rooting for the Yankees that I used to hate with a passion. Not a fan but I guess you could call me a supporter of sorts. The Mets this year were not much to root for. They were out of the pennant race real early in the season. At least the Yankees made it to the playoffs and then stunk the place out. I do give credit to the Yankee organization for pouring a lot of their money into the team. Also, every hick town in the American League should kiss the Yankees feet as they derive a great percentage of their income from the games the Yankees play in their towns. The Tampa Bay Rays are an excellent example. They field a good team and have the second worst attendence in Baseball. If the Yankees and Red Sox did not play here they would be absolutely broke. On top of that the Yankees have to pay the small town teams a penalty for the amount of their payroll. The Rays won 93 games this year and except for Yankee & Red Sox games they drew about 11,000 people a game. No I do not love the Yankees, never will, but I think they mean an awful lot to the sport of Baseball. :-00
I did blood monday and friday. Monday's was good so I'll find out tomorrow about friday's. Hopefully its the same so I can start going every 2 weeks instead.
Judy...love the pictures at the pumpkin patch!!!
Warren...I wish I got my results that fast. I get stuck the old fashioned way, lol and have to wait.
Anna....Happy belated Birthday!!! Hope everyone's feeling better. It's getting to that time of year, flu season!!
Patsy....I'm dreading college application process and all the stress that goes with it!!! I feel like I just finished helping Kati with hers, then next year I'll be doing it with Samm yikes.....
Terry....How's Mike feeling and how are you holding up??
Kevin and I might head to the movies to see James Patterson's Alex Cross movie to celebrate our 24th anniversary. See everyone later.....
Eli...Eli...Eli...Cruz...Cruz...CruzAdd the two together and you get ANOTHER GIANT VICTORY!!! =DB =DB =DB
WEATHER IS NCIE TODAY!!!
HI WARREN.I KNOW WHAT YOU'RE SAYING ABOUT THE YANKEES,BUT IT'S THE WAY I FEEL.. I TAKE ALOT OF RIBBING FROM MYHUBBY WHO IS A DIEHARD YANKEES FAN ABOUT THE METS.MAYBE THAT'S WHY WHEN THEY LOSE I AM TICKLED PINK..
HI DEB!! HOPE THE BLOOD TEST COME BACK OK.DID YOU GO SEE THE ALEX CEOSS MOVIE.??I, TOO WANTTO SEE THAT.HE IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE CHARACTER FROM JAMES PATTERSON'S BOOKS.
EVERYONE.. HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!
Patsy, I understand your feelings. In the 40's especially the Yankees beat the Dodgers in several World Series when the Dodgers had the better team on paper. Remember the old Brooklyn Dodger saying "Wait til next year". Finally in 1955 "next year" came. The Dodgers beat the Yankees and then that bum O'Malley took them to California a couple of years later. I have never rooted for them since the move. No matter who they are playing. Then I rooted for the horrible Mets of the early 60's. I even went to see them when they played in the DUMP called the Polo Grounds before Shea was built. Some of their players could not catch a fly ball or hit the side of a barn with their bats. Then came the days of Tommie Agee, Cleon Jones, Ron Swaboda, Bud Harrelson,Seaver & Koosman etc:.I took my oldest son and even the whole family to Shea. I also would go on Bus trips to Shea with organizations and the local saloons when they ran trips. One of the reasons I follow the Yankees down here is that they are on TV here much more then the Mets. They also have their spring training right here in Tampa.By the way, as much as George Steinbrenner was hated around the country he was loved here for all his civc & charitable work! 8O
HAVE A NICE DAY!!! :flower:
GOOD AFTERNOON, FRIENDS

Finally got his cast and going back to the Doctor the 13th of November for a check up. Will probably not be back to work until February. God help me...Totally exhausted. I am off for my knee today. Will see the Doctor 12 30 . My knee is killing me. Even if there is something wrong can not do anything until he is all recovered.Lets hope it is just Arthritis and nothing else.Well I hope all is well with everyone. I have to find time to read all the post.Thank You Patsy for always calling me and checking up on us it is greatly appreciated and thanks to all of you that asked on here about Mike and on facebook... Love you all and miss your post these past few weeks...Always in my thoughts. Love ya Big Momma
Patsy, Does the sun ever shine up there anymore? According to our papers the NYC area is having clouds or showers just about every day!!!
Terry, good to see you on here. Being a Care Giver is a full time job! Taking care of Mike, the grandkids, the house and now your knee!!! Put in for overtime pay. I do not know who will pay it but put the bill into someone. #-o
Blood work has been steady so they're gonna keep me on 5mg. Going tomorrow for another blood check.
Warren are you in the path of hurricane Sandy? They say its gonna be a big storm...we're gonna get some bad weather from it also.
Terry...hang in there. Hope Mike heals fast. Let us know how you're appt for your knee goes, good luck!!
Patsy...would you believe I was in bed all day yesterday from that migraine :-( I feel better today but not much.
Hi Anna and Judy!!
Debbie, That storm is going no where near us. It is off the East coast of Florida. The East coast will have some rain, wind and waves but we will get nothing but some wind from the outer bands and maybe a few rain showers. I have to go for a PT/INR test tomorrow because I am on Antibiotics and that can cause the level to rise. Under normal circumstances I go once a month unless I get a test too high or too low. As I mentioned last week I get the results immediately after the nurse pricks my finger. I was 2.4 two weeks ago but then I went on the Anti-biotics so to be on the safe side they will test it again. I am on 7.5 five days a week and 5.0 two days. Carol gets Migraines but she has Imitrex and that usually takes care of the pain in a couple of hours. Sometimes nothing works. #-o
Hi-been so busy in work-the computers were not working for 3 days-now I'm backlogged!!! Hi Patsy...Terry-hang in there, prayers are with u..Debbie & Warren- stay well..it was 70 today & the temps dropped to 50 degrees by 7 PM..it will be 30 overnight..busy this weekend. hair appt, watching Justin Saturday night..supposed to work on Sunday but Jessica wants me to go to the mall & lunch on Sunday and I think I'll play hooky & go...just heard about the storm coming up the East Coast..they say it could be bad in the NY & NJ area..stay dry & safe everyone...goodnight....
HI WARREN..YES, LOTS OF RAIN, BUT OK THE LAST 2 DAYS,SO FAR. I KNOW EVERYONE TALKING ABOUT A STORM COMING THIS WAYMONDAY OR TUESDAY.. MY HUSBAND IS GOING ON THE ROOF THISWEEKEND TO CLEAR ALL GUTTERS & MAKE SURE THE GUTTERSHIELDS ARE IN PLACE.
HI DEB!! HOPE THAT MIGRANE GOES AWAY COMPLETELY SOON!!
HEY ANNA..SOUNDS LIKE A FUN WEEKEND..
CUZ..LOVE YA.. XX
EVERYONE..HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!!
Warren....don't know what this storm will bring but they aren't saying good things about it!! I usually take execedrin migraine when I get them but I can't because of the coumadin so its just tylenol and they don't really help much. My bloods been steady so he'll keep me on 5mg, I go again today so we'll see.
Patsy....Kevin will be doing the same thing this weekend, plus getting the stuff in off the porch. Hope it's not as bad as they are saying.
Anna....enjoy your weekend...hope you get to play hooky sunday lol
Hi Judy and Terry...hope all is well.
Hi All,Ha Ha warren....My pay stinks...The best pay I get is hugs ans kisses from the girls...That little one is all over the place. Keeps me going.
Deb,Doctor said no knee replacement ...thinks it was Tendonitis and of course Arthritis. going to get a synvex shot to help..I hope..Hi Anna,Cuz and allI talk to Umbria often. He always calls. He sounds good.Hope you are better Deb. I know those headaches, they are horrible....Good night Sweet Dreams Love you all...
Terry, Sounds like you need a Union and a good Shop Steward to bargain for you!!! All kidding aside, your family should realize how good it is to have someone who will perform all the duties you are doing. If they had to pay for private nurses, baby sitters, cab drivers etc: they would all be broke in no time!
Some advice to you Northeners from a Floridian. (Truly a transported Northener though). While you have the time this AM look around your property for anything loose. That includes flower pots. They make a hell of a missle in strong winds. Move breakable things away from your windows. Be sure your garage doors are down and supported some how. (I have bars that line up vertically from top to bottom and I put them up whenever there is a storm warning. Brackets had to be installed on top of the wall and holes in the garage floor receive bullet like pieces form the bars Something to think about for the future.)Be sure there is a clear path for water to run away from your homes. If there is a brook any wheres near your property be sure it is clear of debris to avoid an overflow. During the storm stay away from windows and doors. DO NOT go out in the storm unless it is an emergency. (Getting a pack of cigarettes is NOT an emergency!!!)
Good luck and I hope all of you (as well as our familes up there) come through this with no damage to people or property [-oB
Well we cleared off our porch earlier and took in everything we could, but it's still pretty scary. They called Kevin in to work tonight, he's sanitation. As with snowstorms, every one is urged to stay home and he's forced to work lol But that we're used to. I heard some area's in brooklyn and staten island are being evacuated. They even closed the schools which is rare and tomorrow my son was taking graduation pictures lol I even got him to get a haircut for it!!
Warren its definitely not something we are used to. Snowstorms yes, but not hurricanes.
Patsy no bus or train tomorrow either so I guess you won't be working.
Judy and Terry I hope you don't lose power :-/ I know that's a big possibility. My in-laws are in NJ and they were told they may be without power for a few days.
Annahope you're enjoying shopping and lunch!!
Hope everyone is safe
One thing I forgot to mention the other day. If you have a pool, especially above ground, lower your water level if you have not already done so.Also, if you sustain a power outage do not go fiddling around with your circuit breaker or fuse box. Water & electricity do not mix well. Open your refrig/freezer as little as possible. If you have not accomplishe this yet, do it while you still have time. Freeze a few containers of water and put them in your freezer. That will extend the life of your food should power go out.
NY is at a stand still! No trains or busses and if you try to drive anywhere near the waterfront you are nuts. If the subways flood there will be no trains for a few days!I guess the best advice is to get out the cards or games andplay them till the crises passes. Good luck!!! [-oB
I do not know if many of you will get to read this for a couple of days. All my Children in North Jersey are without power and phones. We at least have now heard from each of them one way or another. We were able to get through to Carol's sister in Long Island and she is okay. The only one yet not accounted for is Carol's brother in Brooklyn on 13th street. I spoke to him yesterday and they were okay but who knows what happened overnight. What a mess!!! I am sure it could have been worse. We hope that each of you and yours are okay and you are in our prayers and thoughts. [-oB
Hi Warren....We were very lucky here in bay ridge and most of brooklyn too. Many downed trees, some on houses but not nearly as bad as it could've been for us. My brother in Staten Island is without power and has a tree that hit the power line in front of his house. My brother in NJ has no power either but thankfully no damage or flooding.
Hope everyone here is ok, Terry in Staten Island and Judy in NJ
New Jersey was declared a disaster area...very sad.
Hi Deb, Please do not tell the people in Coney Island that Brooklyn was not hit bad. All of my children in NJ are safe. No damage from wind or water. One son does not have power yet but my other son and my daughter had it restored last night. The majority of the damage in NJ is on the shore. They were lying about the A.C. boardwalk. Only one small section was damaged. The Casinos only had minor damage. I have not heard anything about Cape May NJ yet. I am sure they were hit hard. Toms River was also damaged a lot. I think that the Rockaways (including Breezy Point), Coney Island, Seagate, and any othe area on the ocean had it the worst. They just announced that the B'klyn Battery Tunnel may not be reopened until after Thanksgiving. Staten Island is a disaster area. I hope Terry and any other blog members on Staten Island are okay.Great Kills in particular was shown a lot with the damage. Roof tops sitting in a park!!! My kids (I still call them kids even though one is 51, another 50 and the youngest is 46.) Our 7 grandchildren range in age from 9-21.I am praying for all those affected and I hope that none of our families or friends have been hit hard. [-oB
THANK GOD, WE SURVIVED!!!IT WAS PRETTY BAD. WE WERE LUCKY. NO DAMAGE AT ALL!!
PRAYERS & LOTS OF THEM TO FAMILIES WHO LOST EVERYTHING ORLOVED ONES.!! [-oB [-oB.BREEZY POINT. WHAT DEVASTATION..I HOPE THEY GET HELPIMMEDIATELY..A WHOLE COMMUNTIY BURNED OUT. MAY THE GOOD LORD GUIDE THEM THRU!!
EVERYONE HAVE A GREAT DAY, STAY SAFE & SAY A PRAYER ..
Hello all who have electricity,
My oldest son in Wanaque NJ got his power back about an hour ago. All the rest of the family got their's back one at a time or never lost it. Carol's brother in Brooklyn (13th st) never lost power and is fine. Her sister in Amityville is fine. Just heard NYC schools are closed the rest of the week and will reopen Monday. When I went to the NYC schools growing up the only time the schools closed was in 1947 when we had a couple of feet of snow.
Patsy, years ago we had friends who had a bungalow in Breezy Point. At that time it was strictly summer bungalows and no cars were allowed near the houses. You parked in a lot on Jamaica bay or came by boat from Sheepshead bay. From there you walked to the bungalow. Obviously it has changed a great deal. The bungalow my friends had was 3 buildings from the beach! There were NO two story buildings and one shopping area with an A&P and a few other stores. You took a kids red wagon from the Bungalow and went shopping after a 15 minute walk..Times sure change things!!!!
hi everyone hope all is well with everyone, been awhile been real busy, never been into politics in my life, like i have been the last few years,i know talking about religon and politics is a no no,unless you really know the person, any way i seen sandy up close and personal,as i live near the top of a hill in glendale, and i,ve never in my years felt the power of mother nature like this,i,v never seen the walls of my house breath, but i did monday into tuesday, wow lets face it,we been peeing on this earth for a long time, now the earth is peeing back.again may god take you in his arms.everyone take care, take one day at a time, and do the best you can bobby c
HELLO WARREN..HOPE YOU & CAROL ARE DOING WELL.
HI BOBBY..GLAD TO KNOW YOU & YOUR FAMILY ARE OKAY.
WEATHER IS NICE TODAY HERE. A LITTLE BRISK, BUT NICE.REAL FALL WEATHER!!! :geek:
HAVE A GREAT DAY!
You're right Warren...breezy, sea gate, coney island and a few other places here in brooklyn were almost destroyed. Its very very sad all the devastation. My husband's co-worker lost his 2yr and 4yr on staten island. They wife was seeking help on her way to brooklyn and as she left the car with the 2 children they were ripped from her arms in the fast moving water. So so very sad.
Hope all our friends here are ok.
First let me tell you that Carol heard on the TV that they found the bodies of those two little children. I do not know if there are words that could ever comfort that family. I pray for their sadness. I pray for there feelings. I pray for their sanity. The loss of material things is one thing. But to lose two children to this horrible storm is beyond my comprehension. Years ago Carol and I had a still born baby. I did not think at the time that anything could be worse. This terrible tragedy is much worse!
I do not know if there is a way to get in touch with Terry to find out if she and Mike and their families are okay. If someone on here can do so. Please post. [-oB
Thank God it has passed.....I got lucky just no power, heat or water for three days, but compared to others who lost everything I am very thankful....My heart goes out to those who lost lives, homes and everything they owed.
My power came on early this morning and then I got a call that my job had gotten there power back, so I am now at work.
I did see Terry on facebook so pretty sure she and Mike are ok.
Talk to you later.
Hope everyone is doing ok.

Good Sunday to youall,
Sometimes I feel that some things go right over my head without impact. Other times things occur that sink in and disturb me to a great extent. I will be staying off the blog for awhile while I sort out one of these happenings and come to a sensible conclusion. Until then my best wishes to you all. :-k

Hope everyone's ok
I watched all the news about the storm on TV or online. While saddened to see so much pain, tragedy, and destruction, I am heartened by the strength and good character shown by the good people of NY/NJ in coping with this bad news. Each of you will emerge as even stronger and better people because of this experience.
While I moved out of Brooklyn so many years ago, my heart remains there with each of you.
GOD BLESS BROOKLYN!
HI PRODIGLAL SON,THANX SO MUCH FOR YOUR KIND WORDS.IT'S GOING TO BE A LONG HAUL.IT CAN ONLY GET BETTER FROM HERE!!!HOPE ALL IS WELL WITH YOU & YOURS.HAVE A GOOD DAY!!!

I know. I said I would not be on for awhile. I just wanted to clear some things up. I appreciate the concern some of you have shown. Let me reassure you that Carol & I are no better or worse health wise then when I decided to retire from the blog for at least a short time. It has to do with something on the blog itself or should I say not on. I will continue to monitor the blog and when I feel it is appropriate will be back. :-#
Hi..hoping everyone is doing well..NY/NJ/Staten Island=God bless u...Warren-so sorry you won't be on here for awhile..I'll miss your great stories.Hope you & Carol stay well & have the best of holidays for u & your family..maybe when u come back, we can still discuss my Florda journey next year & give me some suggestions as to where to live. has anyone heard from Terry? I live in St Paul, MN ~ kinda dull and lacking in the frenetic pace of bigger cities like Minneapolis and Chicago. Though I moved here 25 years ago, folks tell me the Brooklyn accent is still in full bloom. Good - am planning on keeping it that way.

I read on Facebook yesterday that Joe Orlando's mom passed away yesterday....my deepest sympathies....
Hope everyone is starting to get back to some kind of normalcy after the horrible couple of weeks we have had on the East Coast.

Happy Birthday to my best bud Anthony Umbria!!!!!!!
Glad all are doing well despite the tragedy of the foul weather.
Here in Minnesota many people are in the Holiday spirit. In fact, it seems people are more enthused about it than they have been in recent years. Perhaps it's because some brand new tvs now cost less than some people's weekly grocery bills.
To Patsy - My first name is Richard [which strangely enough] is a very popular name here in Minnesota.
And one more thing: the Gopher state is also enjoying a new baby boom. Everywhere you go moms-to-be are displaying baby bumps. The future looks bright!
JUDY BABY SALVATORE IS GORGEOUS.. HE LOOKS SO BEAUTIFULIN HIS CHRISTENING OUTFIT. GOD BLESS!!
HI RICHARD.. I LIKE THIS BETTER THAN CALLING YOU PRODIGAL SON. IT IS MORE PERSONAL THIS WAY..GLAD TO HEAR PEOPLE ARE IN T HE HOLIDAY SPIRIT. WISH IT WAS LIKE THIS ALL YEAR LONG!!
HI ANNA. & DEBBIE!!! ANNA, ENJOY YOUR DAY OFF.. I AM OFF TOO. I WILL BE PUTTING UP MY XMAS TREE & DECORATING IN &OUTSIDE. CANNOT WAIT!!
TO MY BLOG FAMILY, FAMILY & FRIENDS. ENJOY...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ANTHONY.

Happy Thanksgiving to all.....this year is a very somber year, my mom is no longer with us, but I still have so much to be thankful for, my family, especially my new grandson Salvatore. My heart goes out to those who are still suffering from Hurrican Sandy, those people that have lost so much, my prayers are with them as we enter this holiday season....
Patsy, Debbie, Warren, Carol, Richard, Anthony, Donna, Terry and the rest of the blog gang have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!!!!
Good Morning and Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!!!
Hope everyone enjoys the day today where ever you spend it xoxo
Good Morning all.....
Getting ready for Kevin's 50th birthday party that I postponed because of the weather and the fact that he's been working so much...almost had to cancel again because he's working tomorrow and thought he had to be in at midnight but thankfully he don't.
