Volunteer: Inspire Kids to Love Reading

Help kids in high-need public schools become lifelong readers. Behind the Book is a non-profit organization that brings accomplished authors into classrooms to guide students in creating their own writing and art projects. Our programs, which are part of the class curricula, have a successful record of building literacy skills and motivating students to read.

No experience or training is necessary to volunteer. You'll coach and encourage students as they write, research, and create artwork.

Check out our current volunteer opportunities and contact volunteer@behindthebook.org to sign up for dates in November and December, all at an elementary school in Crown Heights.

You can help kids as they work with author Steven Metzger (Program 241SM11) on a study of the planets, learn about urban birds with author Barbara Bash (Program 241BB11), and examine human rights law with author Selina Alko (Program 241SA12).

To join our volunteer team and get updates on new programs, please complete the questionnaire at http://www.behindthebook.org/join-us/volunteer/.
