      nostrand ave pub..

for what its worth it was on the later side of things, but what ever the bar was not crowded at all. me and my friend came in sat down chilled for about 3 minutes i went to the bathroom came back 5 minutes had passed. he begins to take pictures of the bar tender with his FLASH on to get the attention of this person who still didnt come down so now we are at the 10 min mark and i set the timer on my phone to see how much longer we would be ignored 3 minutes and 30 seconds passed since i set the timer and a off duty employee comes over and attempts to talk and ask whats up and how she can help us at this point im FURIOUS that i sat for 10+ mins in a not busy bar with no service. so we begin to ask about the fact we waited for so long and she becomes hostile and basically says we can leave. and we did..

i will recommend that NO friend of mine ever go to this horrible place with awful service. its a shame because we try and support local business and they treat "us" like this.. tsk tsk tsk anyway RANT END

This trend is not new, but it is certainly accelerating as a result of declining federal support for NYCHA.

Unless the new mayor and adminstration can find some OTHER source of funding besides selling land, this seems a certainty.

P.S. The land isn't for sale, it is actually a 99 year lease.

The details are still being worked out, but plans are in the works by members of the merchants association to host a Food Fest on Franklin Avenue in October 2013.

      ...stay tuned for details.

Found this guy on Park Place near Classon on Sunday afternoon: 3-4 year old, neutered male cat. Very sweet and chatty. Took him to the vet for a check up (no micro chip), but he was definitely someone's pet at some point. We would really like to return him to his home and owner. Please contact with any information.

Dark tabby cat missing since Thursday, June 6, from his home on Clinton & Myrtle Ave. "Oskar" is a 13 year old neutered male, and has a bit of a hanging belly but is very fit otherwise. He likes to explore the neighborhood and hunt but usually returns home. He's wearing a green collar with a name tag and phone number (unless he lost it).

Please check backyards, sheds & garages that were locked since then. If you have seen him, please call 646-641-4268
      THANKS!

      Hello all!

I am currently in Brooklyn and the place I've been at for just over a week is about to come to an end. I am currently on the hunt for a new place to the 3rd of Aug (1month + 2 weeks). Really trying to find a place ASAP

I've been checking out some places lately but nothing coming to par.
I figured I may check here and if anyone has any input into possible someone subletting would be great.

Currently located in Carroll Gardens but looking for possibly something North, of Flushing (Williamsburg/Greenpoint). I've checked areas that are lower and more east, noticed lots of housing projects and rougher areas.

Also open to other areas. But prefer the West/Northern areas. Trying to avoid the East side.

      Cheers,
      Sean

A friend just forwarded this press release to me:

"Hudson Companies Closes on Residential ‘Game Changer’ for Prospect Lefferts Gardens, Brooklyn

Hudson Companies has closed on a development site at 626 Flatbush Avenue in the Prospect Lefferts Gardens section of Brooklyn, where the developer plans to build a 23-story, 254-unit rental building one block east of Prospect Park, The Commercial Observer has learned.

      (Credit: Flickriver, wallyg)
Ariel Property Advisors arranged the $11 million sale of the development site, which the buyer entered into contract on last year, and brokers who arranged the sale are calling it a “game changer” for the neighborhood.
“Prospect Lefferts Gardens is one of the lesser-developed areas that has the most potential because there is a subway is right there, the architecture is beautiful, and access to the park is easy,” Jonathan Berman of Ariel Property Advisors, who exclusively represented the buyer and seller with Shimon Shkury, Michael Tortorici, and Victor Sozio, told The Commercial Observer.
The property features 100 feet of frontage on Flatbush Avenue and a roughly 52,265-square-foot rear parking lot. It is located near the Prospect Park Zoo, Brooklyn Botanic Garden, and two blocks from the B, Q and S subway lines. Hudson Companies has agreed to set aside 20 percent of the units for affordable housing.
“There are so many things going in this neighborhood that the time is right for development,” Mr. Berman said. “Prices in the area for development sites are going up and larger developments are being picked up by developers.”
The deal had to overcome several major hurdles before closing, including resolving an easement issue and relocating several commercial tenants, one of which has already moved, and two others that will relocate in the coming weeks.
In response to demand in underdeveloped areas of Brooklyn, Ariel Property Advisors is expanding its Brooklyn operation and has added additional brokers to its sales team.
“Exciting things are happening in Brooklyn, as rental and condo values are quickly catching up with Manhattan,” said Shimon Shkury, president of the firm, in a statement".

The classic excessive water (rain) comes into contact with electricity problem.

Fire is out. Power may be out to library. ....it is hard to tell.

Lots of traffic backed up on EP and around GAP.

I've just moved to Park Slope, and I need a great cat sitter to care for my three kitties while I'm away for two weeks in July. One of them requires hydration every three days. I'd be very grateful for referrals and recommendations to trustworthy, reliable, devoted cat-caregivers. Thanks!
