I know many people have vented complaints about this post office before, it's my turn. Correctly addressed letters were returned to sender early to mid March. One of the envelopes was marked as 'no such street.' We live 3 blocks away from the post office - on Atlantic Ave! I work in rights & permissions and have reprint agreements mailed to me regularly. They really suck!

They are the worst. Cannot deliver a package to save their lives. They almost relish saying that the package was sent back as was my experience recently. I called to say I had received a notice. Told the woman that I was calling a month later because I didn't have time and basically had "given up" on them anyway. I took her two seconds to tell me package was sent back - but you can be on hold forever if you have a package that is still there. A real pain to get them to re-deliver. I would suggest filing a complaint on USPS. I won't be said if they close the place due to budget problems.

I have lived in Boerum Hill since 1984 and have never found a more dysfunctional post office. The postmen (Bing for one) are awesome but are sabotaged by the complete inefficiency of that entire postal station. AND...they are nasty!

I loath going to that place. It takes forever to do the simplest of things. And even at 8Am or whenever it is they open there's a big line.

I strongly recommend you write a formal letter of complaint to the US Postmaster General:
Patrick R. Donahoe
Postmaster General & Chief Executive Officer
US Postal Service
475 L'Enfant Plaza, SW
Washington, DC 20260-0010Send copies to:
Senator Charles E. Schumer
757 Third Avenue, Suite 17-02
New York, New York 10017Senator Kirsten Gillibrand
780 Third Avenue, Suite 2601
New York, New York 10017And your Representative. The more people that write paper letters with specific examples of incompetence, the more likely it is that the situation will improve. It sucks but government responds better to letters than general grumbling, and if you are brief and specific, you're more likely to get a result.

I feel your frustration. Been there.
Is this for USPS regular "first class" mail, or USPS "priority mail"? Reason I ask is it has been my experience that USPS priority mail really does get better service than their regular mail. Reliably 1 day when package originates in Manhattan. Depending on where you are in the delivery route, your package can arrive ahead of a UPS or FedEx "next-day" package.
But yeah, I remember standing in line for a half hour at the 11217 station when only 6 people in line. Exasperating!

Many thanks for the address(es) to write to. Will do so today. Just yesterday, some of my mail had letters for two doors down. Does that mean my mail went to folks two doors up from me? Not the first time this has happened.

Bohuma: thank you for the contacts.
Sandcastler: all letters were regular first class mail. I also want to add that one of the returned letters was a paycheck (we are freelancers.)We do avoid going to that post office and instead just make the walk to the large post office off Court Street. I also emailed the Boerum Hill Association and was informed that no one else had recently noted a similar complaint. So I guess it was just our building.

I set up a NEXT DAY package to be picked and delivered. @ days later they never came. When I called the phone just rang and rang and rang. I went in trying to keep my zen in tact and was told by a supervisor, "I don't know nothing about it. Nothing I can do." INFURIATING PLACE.
