Hi all, I have two very sweet rescue dogs, one of which has separation anxiety, and I'm looking for a reliable pet sitter for nine days at the end of August/beginning of September. We're located in Carroll Gardens and the sitting could take place here, but I'm also open to having them stay elsewhere provided they're not left alone, as the dog with SA will probably panic, become destructive and possibly hurt himself if he's alone in an unfamiliar environment (he can't be crated).
Can anyone offer suggestions of individuals/companies they have had good experiences with? Preferably ones that are relatively affordable?
Thanks for your help!

If they are good with other dogs, one of the upstate "dog camps" might be good. I know people who have sent their dogs, including one with SA, to Glencadia and have been very happy with it. It's definitely cheaper than any of the reliable other options I've used (having a sitter keep the dog at my home or leaving him with a sitter). They pick-up and drop-off in Brooklyn a couple of times a week.
Town and Country is another one I've heard of but there has been some issues with them overbooking and then boarding dogs in a kennel in a town nearby (meaning the dogs were kenneled most of the time and not frolicking in the woods as the owners thought).

Also, if you do end up using someone around here, make sure to call references. There was a bad incident a few months back with a dog owner who did not check out the new sitter at all (the person just didn't show up to care for the dogs or take them out).
