Karen Friedland, fine artist, will be holding her Annual Holiday Show and Sale at her Studio at 190 Marlborough Road (Q train to Beverly Rd.) in Prospect Park South on Saturday and Sunday, December 8th and 9th, 1-6 PM. Many prominent local dignitaries, including Borough President Marty Markowitz, NY State Senator Jim Brennan, Mayor Bloomberg, Senators Clinton and Schumer, City Council Speaker Christine Quinn and NYS Assemblyman Kevin Parker have been invited to attend.
Many items are featured in the sale including original paintings, prints, collages, giclee prints, notecards and jewelry. All prices have been greatly reduced for this event providing a great gift buying opportunity.
The artist’s paintings in acrylic, oil, pastel and watercolor—her well-known “Chair Series” as well as works reflecting her extensive travel to Morocco, China and elsewhere—have been described as Fauvist for their freshness and intensity. “Friedland’s works…show a strong Matisse-like quality…a wonderful, bold, fresh, brilliant use of color blended with a fantastic sense of composition,” comments Standard-Speaker critic, Charles Burkhardt.
