An operable handgun or assault rifle will net you $200 if you bring it—in a plastic bag—to a gun buyback event in Vinegar Hill this weekend. But rifles and shotguns will only fetch $20 at the Church of the Open Door at 201 Gold Street, where weapons will be accepted between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday.

For better or worse, the change on Nostrand is going to make the change on Franklin look minor.

Seems like today's event was a success:
NEW YORK - (AP) -- A gun buyback program sponsored by the NYPD and Brooklyn District Attorney's office has netted 113 weapons including an assault rifle.
The buyback was held Saturday at a church in Brooklyn. Police say 56 revolvers, 34 semi-automatic pistols and three shotguns were recovered, along with BB guns and eight rifles. One of the pistols contained a high-capacity magazine.
Police say since the program's inception there have been more than 8,100 firearms recovered.
