Recently, the Human Rights Project at the Urban Justice Center released the 2012 New York City Council Human Rights Report Card.
Thirteen Council members scored in the “A” range this year, five of whom are from Brooklyn - Council Members Tish James, Charles Barron, Jumaane Williams, Brad Lander, and Stephen Levin. In addition, the Brooklyn Delegation to Council received the third highest cumulative score, 54%, a B grade, with a high score in workers' rights and a low score in criminal and juvenile justice.
13 Council members scored in the A range in the 2012 Report Card. They are:
• Melissa Mark-Viverito. Manhattan Council District #8—Democrat. (Score: 89%; A+)
• Helen D. Foster. Bronx Council District #16—Democrat. (Score: 88%; A+)
• Letitia James. Brooklyn Council District #35—Democrat/Working Families. (Score: 87%; A+)
• Charles Barron. Brooklyn Council District #42—Democrat. (Score: 86%; A+)
• Stephen Levin. Brooklyn Council District #33—Democrat. (Score: 86%; A+)
• Jumaane D. Williams. Brooklyn Council District #45—Democrat. (Score: 85%; A+)
• Brad Lander. Brooklyn Council District #39—Democrat. (Score 79%; A)
• Robert Jackson. Manhattan Council District #7—Democrat. (Score: 77%; A)
• Ydanis Rodriguez. Manhattan Council District #10—Democrat. (Score: 77%; A)
• Gale A. Brewer. Manhattan Council District #6—Democrat. (Score: 76%; A).
• G. Oliver Koppell. Bronx Council District #11—Democrat. (Score: 74%; A)
• Annabel Palma. Bronx Council District #18—Democrat. (Score: 67%; A-)
• Jimmy Van Bramer. Queens Council District #26—Democrat. (Score: 65%; A-)
