You may already be aware of the incredible work Occupy has been doing to provide relief to storm-ravaged communities throughout New York City and New Jersey. Unless you're in Fort Greene or Clinton Hill, what you may not know is that one of their main distribution hubs and volunteer centers is right here at 520 Clinton Avenue between Atlantic and Fulton, the Church of St. Luke and St. Matthew. Click on the above links to see what you can do.
You can also contact Park Slope Jewish Center at 8th Avenue and 14th Street (718 768 1453), who are sending volunteers to the Park Slope Armory across the street, as well as other activities. Congregation Beth Elohim at 8th Avenue and Garfield http://congregationbethelohim.org ) is also coordinating volunteers.
We need supplies and volunteers every day; remember that recovery and rebuilding is going to take a long time. We all need to help each other through this.
