Going on a 2 week vacation-- I know that parking a car and leaving it in the same spot for a few weeks probably aggravates a lot of people, but is it illegal and will my car get ticketed or towed for abandonment for just a couple weeks? It's not in an alternate side parking area.

A car left alone for that long in Brooklyn may not be there when you get back. If it doesn't get towed by the city, it may get stolen. Personally, I would include the parking garage in my vacation budget. If you are flying to your vacation, you may find it worth checking out the off airport parking lots that provide shuttle service to the airports. Friends who've used them find them good value compared with car service to/from the airport and neighborhood parking garage.

You could also have a bored/retired/unemployed friend park it near them, and move it for alternate side.
For better or worse, the change on Nostrand is going to make the change on Franklin look minor. -
Is it possible to leave your car in the care of an otherwise car-less friend? They'll have a car to use for 2 weeks, in exchange for making sure you don't get any parking tickets. We have a friend who leaves her car with us when she goes out of town and it works out well for all.
