Brrr, IT'S COLD OUTSIDE.

Finally warmed back up some here in Florida. Those kids that came down last week to spend time on the beach better have brought long pants and jackets. This morning it is fog we have to deal with but at least the temps are reasonable.
Got a call from my Cardio office yesterday. The Holter I wore two weeks ago for 24 hours did not work. Nothing registered. I have to do it over again next Tuesday/Wednesday. Today is my appointment with the endocronologist(sp). He is supposed to find out why my Thyroid readings are out of whack. Hopefully he will discover why I get lightheaded at the breakfast table and sometimes later. Next month it will be the Urologist's turn to poke and prod me and do more testing. Sometimes I feel like a punching bag or a pin coushion. I guess at 79 I should count my blessings and hope that all these Doctors can keep me going okay.

WANTS TO BE A DOCTOR..ANYWAY, COLUMBIA IS AN IVY LEAGUE
COLLEGE & NOT SO EASY TO GET INTO. LAST WEEK, SHE RECEIVED
AN E-MAIL FROM A COLUMBIA ALUMNI, & THE ALUMNI MET HER
IN A CAFE IN BAY RIDGE TO INTERVIEW HER. THE ALUMNI SAID,
TO EVEN GET AN INTERVIEW WITH COLUMBIA IS A GREAT HONOR.
THE INTERVIEW LASTED ABOUT 45 MINS & TONIANN SAID IT WENT WELL. SHE WAS TOLD COLUMBIA GETS 30,000 APPS A YEAR & THEY
ONLY TAKE 2,000 STUDENTS (6%). DON'T KNOW IF TONIANN WILL GET IN, EVEN WITH HER GRADES, & ALL HER EXTRA CARRICULAR & CAPTAIN AGAIN THIS YEAR FOR SOFTBALL TEAM ETC. BUT WE WILL KEEP OUR FINGERS CROSSED. IF NOT, SHE APPLIED TO 3 OTHER REALLY
GOOD COLLEGES. 
TODAY SHE WAS REALLY HAPPY, SHE LEFT ON HER SENIOR SKI TRIP UPSTATE FOR THE WEEKEND.

Patsy, Best of luck to Toniann. That goes for whatever school she ends up with. Thanks to those wishing me good luck on my tests. So far not so good. First my Doctor sent me to the Thyroid guy. He was quite concerned about my test results and is setting me up with a whole slew of tests on mt Thyroid. Meanwhile I got a call today from my Doctors nurse telling me that my stool sample test showed signs of blood. Now I have to go to a Gastroenterologist (sp) . Next month I have a PSA test and a Cysostcopy with my Urologist. It just does not end. I had hoped we could go on another cruise this spring but I guess that is out. I wish they would put me in the Hospital and do all the tests at once but it does not work that way. ](*,)Oh yeah, I almost forgot, next week I have to go to the Cardiology office and get the Holter back on beause it did not work the first time around.

Good morning all.
The weather did a 360 and now it is unbelieveably good. Sunny, high yesterday 84 degrees. Similar predicted for today. Very un-January like for here but I will take it gladly. Had the Holter put on yesterday. Wearing it now. I hope it works this time. Have many medical appointments lined up with more to come. Will try to enjoy the days that I do not have appointments!
Sorry that you Northerners are suffering with colds etc:. Get over them as quick as possible. Canadian Club usually helps LOL.
This will be a banner year for us. At least one Grandchild graduating from College in June. Another the following semester. It seems like yesterday they were peeing in their diapers!The two oldest Grandchildren will soon be 22(June)and that 22 years went like a bat out of hell. Okay, time to try and accomplish something. Try to put away all the Christmas decorations. They are mostly down but have to still box some and store them.

Hi-hope everyone starts to feel better..I decided to stay home from work on Tuesday..feeling tired & achy (and I got my flu shot)...glad it's the end of the week..going to see my son in Peoria (3 hour drive) with Steve & Jessica this weekend-he's trying to sell his house & wants his pool table out of the house so the basement looks bigger..Steve & Jessica are going to bring it back home for their new basement..so I'm just going for the drive..Cody hasn't been feeling well..behavior problems (don't parents go through this with their kids?) he's on anxiety meds..so we'll see how he does...never a dull moment right? For some reason I had a memory erupt from the old neighborhood. I know you all had your favorite local bakery but ours was Levines on 5th Avenue just before 13th Street. Th aromas coming from that store were incredible. When my Mother took me there when I was small, the owner would go to the crumb bun tray and sccop up as many loose crumbs as she could and put them in a small bag for me. WHAT A TREAT! On Sundays we would stop there after Church and get a bag of fresh rolls for Sunday dinner. Some seeded, some what they called "Water Rolls". The large bag full (at least a dozen and 1/2) cost .75c. After dinner sometimes we would go to Whelan Drugs also on 5th avenue between 12th & 13th Street and get Strawberry Ice Cream Cones. Between Sunday School, Church and Sunday dinner, Sunday was sure a special day in our house. My Mother made plenty of food because she never knew how many of our friends we would invite to dinner. There was always a roast, Mashed potatos ,Gravy (My Mother made the best gravy in the world with ANY roast) and of course one or two vegetables. On the times we did not go for the Ice Cream at Whelans it was because my Mother had purchased a Messing Cake at the store. Remember the Messing cakes the Deli's used to sell by the slice? She would buy a half or the whole cake. Yes Sundays were sure special in our house.

I hope everyone is free of that terrible flu bug. It has hit the Midwest like a plague. Very sorry to say it has caused several fatalities this week, especially among teens. But for some reason the politicos will not close down the schools. I was planning on attending a high school wrestling tournament tomorrow (high school wrestling is still one of the most popular family events in this region) but decided against it for fear of getting sick.

A good Sunday to you all. Just got back from Church. Despite the Flu epedemic we had a good size congregation today. I guess the word is out that we are having the best January (weather wise) in years. Been 80 every day for a week!
Only left to put away is my second tree on the Lanai. Took all the ornaments & lights off it yesterday and stored them away. Only a 5 minute job and Christmas will be oficcially over at this house. Before you know it, we will be putting the Deco's back up. Time seems to move much faster when you get older.
One of my Cardiologists called Friday night. He was very concerned about the results of the Holter Test. I have to call first thing tomorrow to get a STAT appointment. Oh well. I see Doctors so often that it becomes matter of fact!

Met with my regular Cardiologist today to discuss the results of the Holter I wore. The results were not good. My heart beat is ranging from too low to just barely acceptable. I am going to have to have a Pacemaker inserted in my Chest. Looks like the other Doctors will have to wait until this is done. I see a Gastroenterologist Friday after seeing the Heart surgeon Thursday. Then in the coming weeks I have appointments with My Urologist, Endocrinologist, and Primary Doctor. What a mess! The Pacemaker will be inserted in the Hospital with an overnight stay. The cardiologist is concerned that I will start passing out if I do not have the Pacemaker. I do not need that. I will keep you posted on the progress!

Warren my mother in law just had a pacemaker put in also. It was done as an emergency, she's been having heart issues since she had so much chemo over the years. Good luck and keep us posted.

Patsy, I know how you & your husband feel. In 1970 I was a Letter carrier for the US Post office when we went on strike. It was illegal for Federal employees to strike but the pay had fallen so far behind the economy that we had Carriers & Clerks qualifying for welfare!I was President of our local branch of the National Association of Letter Carriers and President of the Bergen County NJ District Association of Letter Carriers. I was not a proponent of the strike but I have to admit the end result meant a great deal to our families. Fortuneatly the strike did not last long and we only lost a few days pay and none of our benefits. Because of my positions in the union, I was a prime target of more aggresive members, members who did not want to strike and of course the Postal Service itself. Even the Bergen Record got on my back. I hope that your husbands strike has a swift ending with the time off being worth it.
I got a call from the Cardiologist who will do my Pacemaker implant Friday afternoon. Thursday afternoon we had met with him and he was not sure at all if he wanted to do it without more evidence of the need. After a conversation with my regular Cardiologist he not only changed his mind but asked if I could be ready Monday! I said yes and the surgery will take place tomorrow in Brandon Regional Hospital. Yea, I am a bit nervous about it but if it will stop some of the symptoms I am having I really want the Pacemaker. Obviously you will not hear from me for a couple of days. I have to stay in the Hospital at least overnight. God bless you all!
