my cats love to destroy fabric, the more expensive the more they love to rip and chew it up... cashmere, silk, merino, clothing or furniture. the scratching post helped a bit, and the arrival of the 2nd cat helped a LOT a few years back. how do i make them stop?

Subject: Sisal Scratching Post
Similar problem here. I have had great results with the sisal scratching post at topcatproducts.com. A friend told me about it and I was skeptical because of all the carpet covered posts that sat there unused. I bought both the post and the flat scratcher. Not much interest in the flat scratcher from my group. But, the scratching post is really popular. Absolutely NO Scratching or shredding of furniture or fabrics anymore. I have used this for 3 years, replaced the "post" twice (4 cats) when it was shredded down to the wood, and I highly recommend it. It arrives with a small bag of catnip to rub on the sisal to stimulate initial interest. Note: I have no financial interest in this company other than the financial savings of replacing my belongings. -
If you are going to invest in a good quality scratching post, this is my favorite (Model #SPVP). http://www.wadescattrees.com/priceless_3rd_pg.html You can order it from Whiskers in Manhattan - they will deliver it for free. http://1800whiskers.com/V2/template2.php?CHAPITRE=100 I think that a good scratching post may help your issue. Maybe even give them some fabric of their own to tear up. I have never tried this so I really don't know if this would work or not but it would certainly be worth a try.
