Has anyone worked with them? Feedback? Tips? I met with one of their bridal consultants almost a month ago and have yet to get a quote back for a custom dress....is this normal? Am I being too antsy?

A month seems like an awful long time for an estimate. Have you called?"...you can choose the rain....but I choose the sun..." - N. Costa

I called today because my email address has changed and was told that their bridal consultant isn't in. I know I'm probably not high-priority as I'm still in the "budgeting" phase, but..... Kimera, on the other hand, was able to give me a quote on the spot.

Ok, so you're in the early stage of planning, but that shouldn't mean that they put you off like that. And what does that mean, "isn't in." So, you found out when she'll be in? Cause I'd make a trip down there the very next time she is. Or a call. I wonder if "isn't in" means "she left and isn't coming back, so we're totally scrambling now to replace her"? Are they super popular?"...you can choose the rain....but I choose the sun..." - N. Costa

Re: Michelle NY: My rule for anything is that if I get the runaround during the planning stages, then I run away. If this is how they treat you when they're trying to get you to spend money, what will they be like after you've already given them the money? RE: Kimera: What/where is this place? Do tell. -
@BK Chickie: yes...that's sort of how I'm feeling, too. I'm investigating a similar dress option from Whirling Turban and they've been nothing but super-helpful. Kimera is on Atlantic and...Hoyt? Bond?....near the Downtown Atlantic place with the giant cupcakes. Her dresses are gorgeous and my mom will probably have her dress made there, along with ties for the groomsmen. I met with her for about an hour, tried on a few things, looked at fabric and she was able to give me a quote that same day along with all of the information on turnaround time and fabric orders, etc.

@ Whatchuwant: yeah...I'm going to give them another week and then just forget about it. Sad, because their dresses are really pretty, but I kind of don't want to deal with the hassle of having to harrass someone into taking my calls/a lot of my money.

Whirling Turban?? Where are you finding these places? I'd love to talk to someone local about doing a custom dress (and to figure out what the cost will be), but I'm clueless about where these places are. -
I found out about Whirling Turban on offbeatbride.com.....they are not local, but they are super-helpful and specialize in vintage-inspired dresses. http://www.whirlingturban.com I love, love their stuff....and there are great hats/veil-alternatives on Etsy!

Oh, WOW! They do have great stuff. Not to distract from the GREAT dresses, but are some of those dresses actually modeled by men? Maybe the women are just over made up, and I'm mistaking them for cross dressers. Not that I care one iota, because those are some fab-u-lous dresses. Why let the guys have all the good stuff? -
I think the makeup is because the models are sort of pin-up styled? (red lips, liquid liner, etc) But I can see how they might also make good stage costumes, depending on the fabric choice, etc. Hooray for everyone in fab dresses!

The Whirling Turban ladies are AWESOME. I have a regular dress (well, if a Saheen style sarong dress is "regular" to you) from there and love it. They do marvelous work.Follow me on Twitter: @grandarmymajor

@LadyLibertine: my "borrowed" Peggy Would is coming in less than a week! I am so excited.....and kind of hope it fits so I can keep it to wear as an everyday dress.

another website for vintage syle dresses.... http://martinmccrea.com/ Serene Rose on 5th Avenue in the Slope does custom wedding dresses and bridesmaid dresses, they are very simple and they have a huge selection of different types of silk and colors. Good luck!
