Last year's "unheard of" seal sighting at the dock of the Miramar Yacht Club in Sheepshead Bay was followed by another sighting in March of 2011 at Brighton Beach. Now, a Rockaway cruise vessel is giving seal watching tours where you can see dozens of seals.

This seems like unexpectedly good environmental news, in that there has been a huge leap in the population of harbor seals on the East Coast over the past 5 years.

Now, work on the shipping/boat traffic and you'll probably see cetaceans making a come back as well.
