So I get home from a week out of town and I read in the Times Metro section about a shooting on Park Place involving some victims that have past drug arrests. The shooter got away. I didn't see anything about which block it was, nor can I find more information on a local news website. (NY1)

I expected to find some mention of the incident here this morning.

Can anyone point me to some more detail ?

Shootings Kill 2 in Queens and Brooklyn

      By THE NEW YORK TIMES

      Published: July 23, 2006

Two men were killed yesterday in unrelated shootings in Queens and Brooklyn, the police said.

In the Queens shooting, which occurred about 1 a.m. on 108th Street near Forest Park, Michael Rogers, 20, was fatally shot after he exchanged words with a man whom the authorities did not identify. Mr. Rogers, who lived in Brooklyn, was pronounced dead at the scene, the police said.

Another man, whom the police did not identify, was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center with a graze wound to the head.

In the Brooklyn shooting, the police said three men were shot, one of them fatally, on Park Place in Crown Heights at 4:22 a.m. Officers found Darryl Holmes, 39, who had been shot once, hanging out of a car. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the police.

Another man, whom a law enforcement official identified as Laron Kitt, 29, had been shot twice and was taken to Kings County Hospital Center in critical condition, the police said. A third man, who was not identified, was shot once in the forearm and went to the same hospital, the police said.

The motive for the Brooklyn shooting was not known, the police said. Mr. Holmes had served time in prison for selling and possessing narcotics, according to the New York State Department of Correctional Services.

There were no arrests in either shooting, the police said last night.

Besides the shootings, but now at the Met at Nostrand and St. Johns, they " check your bag" when you walk in because neighborhood theft is at an all time high.

I was on vacation when this happened. Got a call that this had occurred, but the person I spoke to had no details. Haven't yet spoken to any neighbors, but if I get any info, I'll pass it along.

The shooting occurred on Park between Rodgers and Nostrand. This is the same block where the mother was shot in the back earlier this year. No one seems to know any real details, not even if the victims were local or not. Police truck was on Nostrand but moved this evening.
