Any current opinions on this place? been in 95 South Restaurant Bar and Lounge, around the corner from Franklin Park?

      Drank? Ate? Danced? Opinions?

95 South on Yelp, opinions from established yelpers ranging from 5 stars ("ribs that taste like they've been smoked for 24 hours") to 1 star ("profits off the violent behavior of dudes who leave the bar drunk and then have huge fights in front of my apartment building and dig in people's trash cans and throw bottles at each other"):

Lately, it seems deserted when I walk by. Granted, I am usually home by 11 and this place could have a late scene that I am not aware of....

However, I wonder if the business is still making a profit.

It certainly is not selling as much alcohol before 11 as some of the newer bars.

At the earliest, Bollywood bar won't open until probably this summer. ...the space is still occupied by a realty firm.

I might go 95S the next time I am in the mood for ribs.

Been there twice. Their ribs are terrible and so are the wings. Their bar was also expensive compared to other options in the neighborhood. Hopefully they've come down on their prices. There is no way they should have been charging $13 for a Dewar's a ginger ale when Franklin park charged $10 tops for it.

I went once when it first opened. Only bar in the area then. It was quiet and only had public school teachers in it, weirdly. It quickly became LOUD and annoying - so much so that I moved because I couldn't sleep 3 nights a week.

Drinks were pricey, terrible beer selection. And drinks were in plastic cups. I won't go back. At least Secrets on Nostrand has dancing with its loudness and expensive plastic-cupped drinks. 95s seems to just have people standing around.

On second thought, I'll get ribs in Manhattan near work the next time I am in the mood.

Isn't this place simply a money-laundering front? I thought paraderest or someone else in the know posted that years ago.

That's what the police eluded to at a Crow Hill meeting last year.

I thought it was a nice Freudian slip. ...the police, like everyone speaking at public mtgs, does try to elude giving the real answers.

      That's a very cynical statement.

As someone who speaks at public mtgs, I believe it is a truthful AND cynical statement.

As a cynic, how can we trust you to be truthful?

Truthful cynics are often referred to as realists.

At least that is how we think of ourselves.

      There are billions of us.

I'm well aware of the size of the earth's population. I'm skeptical about the proportion of truthful cynics in it.

As you are aware, the population clock says there are almost 7 billion people on earth. Now, in order for there to be "billions of us", there would obviously need to be at least 2 billion people that think of themselves as Truthful Cynics.

It is important to remember that believing one is a Truthful Cynic has the same attributes of any good religion, culture or identity affiliation: Once one claims they are x, no one else can claim that person is not x, because no one owns the definition of what it means to be truly x.

The trick of course, is to let the individual define what it means to be a Truthful Cynic, and then ask them, whether they were one.

Given the varied languages spoken by earth residents, the use of good looking, single pollsters who self identify as Truthful Cynics would also assist in this process.

If I manage to make Realism part of the definition, I think I could get more than half of the world (almost 3.5 billion people) to sign on. After all, who doesn't want to be thought of as a realist?

Hence, I believe that my claim that "there are billions of us", could be substantiated.

Your reasoning suggests that you are not a cynic at all, but rather an optimist!

I am Optimistic in the sense that I believe that I will never be alone; there will always be Truthful Cynics.

My preferences are broad enough that I also believe many of them will be good looking.

However, I have become pessimistic about getting good ribs at I-95.

To obtain good ribs, one must go to Alabama.

Alabama is too far to go for good ribs.

Now that it is under new Mgt, 95 South is doing a pretty good brunch business.

Under the old mgt, the place was mostly a bar, and a somewhat deserted one until very late at night.

For the passed few weekends, they have offered bunch and people seem to be patronizing it.
