the site is occasionally listed as being for lease, yet it continues to be Abigail's.

A thread that discusses a prior attempt: http://brooklynian.com/forum/crown-heights-and-prospect-lefferts-gardens/abigails-for-sale

For better or worse, the change on Nostrand is going to make the change on Franklin look minor.

I love that they say "light food" ... Maybe that's why they never have any of the food on their menu....

Man, I want to this place to succeed, but it's so up and down (like everyone else said on the other thread).

My parents were in town two weeks ago and we tried going for breakfast on a Saturday. Their chef wasn't in yet, so they couldn't serve food (10:30 or 11am?). They did give us free lattes as an apology and recommended two other neighborhood joints. Wish they could get it together!

After years of watching this place struggle, I have decided that I will likely like the place that replaces Abigails, better than I like Abigails.

In other words, I'm rooting to the yet-to-be-announced Away Team.

Don't they own another place in Manhattan that is successful? The owners clearly know how to run a restaurant. Cannot believe that these guys can't/won't get it together. The location is good, the space is great, but in my experience the only consistent thing about this restaurant are sub-par food and service. I mean, what kind of cafe serving breakfast doesn't have a chef at 10:30am on Saturday?

One in which the head chef is also the owner, Abigail.

If you're happy, you're not paying attention.

If I owned a struggling restaurant and was trying to sell its lease, I would want to present the neighborhood as being as crime free and upscale as possible.

I think I would start with investing $300 to replace the acid etched glass on the front of my store.

Most of the locals know not to go there because they have heard about how slow the service is.

However, the window gives people merely visiting the 'hood the impression that Abigail's isn't too concerned with a quality presentation.

The right window has been etched for at least 2 years. I know this because the folks at Nostrand Park took this photo in January 2010 when they wrote about one of her prior attempts to sell it:

Note: In the past this place was for sale for $675k, now it is available for lease at $4500 per month.

I gave this place another shot after avoiding it for a few years. The service was just as bad as my first visit and I will never go there again. How it has remained open this long is beyond me.
