Anyone know what the deal is with the building on the SW corner of Bedford and Lincoln? A two-floor space has been under renovation for a while. It's big enough for a gym and personally that's what I'm hoping it will be.

We've been in the neighborhood going on 4 years and this building has appeared to be in various stages of renovation the whole time. Never seen anyone in there.

I, too, am hoping for a gym. Or a CVS/Walgreens/Duane Reade.

I have been wondering like crazy about this one. Whatever is going in likes windows more than the last occupier, they cut a whole bunch into the formerly pink painted brick.

I can't get over the fact that there is no place hereabouts that is open on Sunday so a Duane Reade would be lovely. Surely there could be an even better option though?

My wife heard that it would be a medical center.

I presume this is Bedford & Lincoln PLACE, in CH, rather than Bedford & Lincoln ROAD, in PLG. It's SO confusing when similarly named streets, like Lincoln Place/Road and Sterling Place/Street ar in adjoining neighbors, especially when they're on the same forum.

Yes, the old rental banquet hall... Henry House, I think it was called? We moved in about 8 years ago, but I think it finally closed maybe 4 years ago? Just been a big, vacant bldg ever since. Every now and again, you'd see someone power washing it, and either more or less storage boxes would materialize on the ground floor.

I actually thought it was pretty likely to be annexed by MEdgar Evers, as they already have a smaller sattelite bldg right next door, on bedford going towards Eastern.

I went to the auction where they sold the remains of Henry House so I could explore it.

      It was decrepit in there.

For better or worse, the change on Nostrand is going to make the change on Franklin look minor.

This place is being turned into a medical office building. Same as the space on Prospect and Bedford that used to be a beer distributor.

I dont know what the deal is but this area of Crown Heights seems to have a high number of medical spaces. Dialysis centers are par for the course. But I wonder if these developments are good, bad or neutral...

As the health care industry moves away from hospital complexes to facilities that provide only specialized care, we will see more of these.

...especially along on popular bus routes that serve folks with health insurance.

Party/catering halls seem to be going out of business pretty often.

    11. Don't forget the new medical center in the former Chase Manhattan bank building on Nostrand bet. St. Johns Place and Lincoln Place.

Yep, the permit says it's going to be a medical building.
I had hoped very early on, it would be a Duane Reade or other pharmacy, but considering there is another one around the block that is more mom & pop, then it's for the best.

Should be interesting to see what happens with this building. Hopefully it won't take too long for them to renovate. They seem to be working pretty hard on it.

Hopefully, it will make the area much more viable.

    13. I believe a sign at the site says there will be a pharmacy in the building, operated by the pharmacy up the street. Weird. I guess at least that way they won't lose any business.

But will they be open on Sundays?
