I am driving back into the city today and wondering whether the streets around Franklin have been plowed; particularly interested in Sterling, St. Johns, and Park Place between Classon and Bedford.

No. I just walked down the middle of Franklin from E.Pwky to Prospect Pl. Not one car opposed me the whole way. I didn't see one cross-street that was plowed. There was a plow (a big, heavy fucker) stuck in the intersection at (I think) Sterling. Avoid the area if possible.
...not that there's anything wrong with that. -
Streets are super bad condition. Trash pick up is suspended for another day at least. you might want to park in one of the garages for a day or 2 so that you can drive right in wo looking for a spot for hours..worth the 30 bucks

Thanks so much for the into. I figured street parking would be impossible and was planning to park in one of the garages on St. Johns off Franklin or the one on Sterling between Nostrand and Rogers, but I am trying to figure out if I can make it to one of those garages. From WhyFi's post, it sounds like I may not be able to.

I plan on going out on a bit of a longer walk today, but, in my travels around the neighborhood in the last day-and-a-half, the only navigable streets are Vanderbilt, Washington, Eastern Parkway/GAP and Classon. Venturing off of these streets is a two-fold problem: 1) the cross streets aren't plowed 2) even if a particular cross street isn't is too bad, the plowing has effectively created 2-3 foot barriers of compacted snow, restricting access to/from the plowed street.
In short, it's pretty fucked.

Park Place has been plowed, in no small part I suspect, because the police use it as their way to get from the east side to the west side of the precinct without having to detour around the projects.
Sterling, St John's, Lincoln Pl, and the service road on EP are all a no go.
There is actually some limited street parking on Nostrand as business owners are digging out the spaces in front of their businesses.

Underhill was unplowed as of late last night
For better or worse, the change on Nostrand is going to make the change on Franklin look minor. -
Thanks so much everyone. I have decided to wait another day before driving back. If someone could post when Sterling and St. John's get plowed (which I am hoping will be sometime today because they are bus routes), I would greatly appreciate it as that will enable me to get near my apartment and a garage.

In the way to GAP this morning, looking up at Sterling toward Underhill it looks like it was plowed. Don't know how far up though.
-
We managed to drive out down Sterling last night. It's a bus route, so they plowed it.
BQE was nice and clear, too.
-
Really because Bergen and Dean are bus routes and both have not been plowed yet. I think you just got lucky.
-
rogers and bedford are plowed. Also Park Pl and Sterling as another poster noted. If you don't have to drive, i would say don't. I have been traveling by subway for 2 days and it's been great.

Vandy between atlantic & GAP was hilarious (in an unfortunate, very stuck kind of way) today. At noon, there were many stuck vehicles of all sizes, dotting the whole street up & down.
Since plows weren't able to get through, they couldn't do the sidestreets either. A stalled bus was blocking Dean (or bergen?) and had apparently been there since Sunday night. It might be there still, but progress was being made with a tractor-plow.

Sterling was plowed, however there is still so much snow in the street and on the sides. Parking is impossible. Franklin Avenue is a disaster. At this writing a sanitation truck is at the corner of St. John's and Franklin Avenues, diagonally positioned in the middle of the road. Cars cannot get beyond it. Yesterday morning one of those shuttle buses that pick up physically handicapped and elderly folk sat right behind the truck with its engine idling for at least an hour. Someone built a snowman in front of the sanitation truck. It's a riot.
I've seen at least 5 stalled cars on Franklin Avenue, wheels spinning in earnest. The same thing on St. John's between Franklin and Bedford. I witnessed a livery driver stuck for at least a half hour, and a MTA bus right behind it; this was the day of the snow's falling. There is still a great deal of snow on the road, and it's not advisable that one move a car, or even think of bringing one to the neighborhood. I doubt you will be able to move on the side streets. Hopefully the weather will allow for some melting of this stuff. It better, or, things won't improve much for awhile...

Would appreciate an update as of Wednesday morning on whether Sterling, St. Johns, and Park Place between Bedford and Classon are driveable. Not looking too good based on that photo of Franklin Avenue in today's New York Times.

definitely don't try the service roads on Eastern Parkway-- 2' of snow in the middle of them.

Update:
Sterling between Nostrand and Rodgers has finally been plowed and cars are once again going in and out of the garage.
BTW, anyone walking to the 3 train at Nostrand be careful crossing the north service road. Due to both the lack of plowing and shoveling there is about 3 inches of slushy brackish water in the cross walk. Unless you have on high, waterproof boots you're better off walking out into Nostrand and crossing in traffic than staying in the crosswalk.

Any updates on Franklin Avenue and Dean-ish? We, too, have been stuck out of the city and anxious to come home. Any info appreciated. Thanks

Franklin and Dean are clear. It's warmer now too so everything is starting to melt.
