Hi all, me and two of my friends have been looking for a 2 bedroom apartment to split (we are all college students) and we recently found one we really liked for a great price on Lincoln place in between Kingston and Brooklyn Ave. It's me my friend and his girlfriend (So we do have a lady with us) and we'd all be commuting to Manhattan for our classes, as well as potential jobs.

While we did visit the area and walk around, I keep hearing all these stories about CH and its many dangers and I am not sure how safe the area really is. So I was wondering if I could garner some opinions and feedback on the area, also if there are any local hangouts and/or places to avoid at night. Any info from locals would be greatly appreciated ^^ thanks a bunch.

We have owned our home and lived on Lincoln Place between Brooklyn and Kingston since 2001. This neighborhood has seen a lot of change since then and all for the better. We have never had an issue or ever felt threatened in our neighborhood. The location you spoke of is quite close to the train so excellent for transportation. We are finally walking distance from hip and trendy restaurants and often take advantage of what Crown Heights has to offer. There are many young professionals and college students in our neighborhood. There are young single women that we know that live here as well and they have never had an issue. With that being said...it's still New York, you should always be smart and aware. What more would you like to know??

      Lived here since 2001...

I live a block away and have for most of my life. The neighborhood is great and has been for quite a while! Its quiet, close to trains (about 30 minutes puts you midtown NYC), you have the Parkway for biking or walking to the Museum and it's 1st Saturday events. And the Botanic Garden and Prospect Park. You have decent supermarkets on Nostrand and CVS is on St. Johns at Brooklyn Ave. (it could be better but it has the essentials). You have "Basil" at your corner for Pizza. "Syds" for sandwiches at 759 Nostrand and Lincoln and "Super Wings" at 1218 Union St. off Nostrand Ave. More eating places opening soon on Nostrand. Just be aware and use common sense and you be will fine! Good Luck & Welcome!

Thank you soo much for all the great info, that's the kind of feedback we were looking for =)We're still waiting on hearing from the landlord before we can sign the lease and such. Wish us luck and we hope to meet any of our new neighbors!

what types of neighborhoods have you lived in before? if you've never lived in a neighborhood like that, you'll probably find that it feels "dangerous" or whatever. if you have, you'll feel at home.

    6. I'm a little farther south off Kingston, but I walk past Lincoln every day on my way to the train and I'd like to echo what the other locals have said. I walk alone from the train as late as about 11 or 12 and have never had a problem (any later and I'd drive or take cab, but I'd do that anywhere). Because Kingston is commercial, and the bodegas and Chinese restaurants stay open late, there are usually people out and the area is well lit. Plus there is a permanent police presence at Eastern Parkway and Kingston. Hope that eases some of your safety concerns. And good luck with the lease!
