At 4:10pm today on the corner of Schenectady Ave. and Union St., a middle aged African-American male with a gun in his hand walked over to another African-American male and shot him seven times at point blank range, killing him instantly.The suspect - who was wearing a nylon garment over his entire head, concealing his face - calmly walked half a block toward Utica Ave., where he got into a waiting car and sped off.
This same intersection was the scene of a very similar incident in April of 2011, and many speculate that this corner is the hub of a drug-related crime ring.
This shooting marks the 17th homicide that has occurred in New York City since the heat wave began a week ago. It is the sixth killing since Friday night.
