The southwest corner of Franklin and Sterling just got an extensive new scaffolding make-over. I have heard rumors about a new business coming to this corner, across the street from the new Chavela's, but I don't know of anything definitive.

      Anyone have any scoop?

Not 3Ds. While it's been closed for a while, that's the north east corner. I wonder what is happening at the South west corner. I've been here 6 years and have never seen a business in that space. It seems big.

      Not terribly informative.

Ask one of the construction guys.

Ideally an Electrician or a Carpenter; they usually know how the site will be used.

Only the riggers were there so far, and there are no permits issued (or applied) for anything aside from the scaffolding itself, as per the DOB.

The space diagonally across the intersection (site of 3Ds Bakery) is now getting the plywood treatment as well.

New permits now granted and displayed in storefront.

"TO CONVERT EXISTING STORE INTO AND EATING AND DRINKING ESTABLISHMENT. "

It's a great space for it. I wonder if it has a prospective tenant already?

That seems interesting..... With Bombay Massala being so close and soon opening a Bollywood Bar, it seems like over saturation (when you include Sapid as a great delivery option) unless something is very different between the two.

I mentioned Bombay, and he said his will be nicer then Bombay.

I did not ask him what that meant in terms of price and service, so we shall have to wait.

A south Indian place would be amazing.

There isn't one in all of Brooklyn, but one can always dream.

I spoke with a few neighborhood long timers about this space.

They believe the last time this space was rented was around 1996.

Has anyone seen any progress? Are they getting deliveries yet?

I've heard they are having staffing problems, and the opening is temporarily on hold.

And we still don't know what's going in the 3D's space?

I don't what is happening with the former 3-D space.

...but, on Saturday during Kid's Day, I did see some guys installing a big central air A/C unit on the roof to the soon-to-be Indian restaurant.

The owner was supervising it all.

I wish to state that June 1 was more than 3 months ago. That is all.

The paper signs? Those have been there for a few weeks at least.

The 3D's space has now been outfitted with a very nice finished wood and glass facade.
