I heard a lot of shots fired. A lot of people running. Did anyone get hurt?

I just took the shuttle home and on it was a woman freaking out on her cell phone after finding out her uncle had been shot on Grand Ave. Sounded like it was fatal.

If the following conditions are present, there will be a shooting in Crown Heights:

      1. a happy occasion
      2. warm weather
      3. people hanging out outside

I was semi-nervous walking thru the crowds of people late last night. And this shooting confirms that I was nervous for good reason.

Like the West Indian Day Parade, maybe 4th of July should be cancelled in Crown Heights. People just can't seem to handle it.

This quickly written article in The Post doesn't specifically mention this shooting in western CH, but describes a violent holiday in Brooklyn...

If our little section of Brooklyn has a murder last night, it will likely get a mention in the media as the day goes on.

For better or worse, the change on Nostrand is going to make the change on Franklin look minor.

Still nothing in the news about a shooting/murder on Grand Avenue, or even CH. Very violent holiday....

Hmmmm. Let's assume there was a shooting, and the press missed it.

That said, the following things are usually true in NYC:

      1. The person shooting knew the person being shot at.

      2. If the distance between the shooter and person being shot at was more than 15 feet, less than 20% of bullets hit the target. The rest of the bullets hit elsewhere.

      3. There is a high probability that either the shooter or the victim was intoxicated at the time of the shooting. Or both.

      4. The person firing the gun, and the intended victim are likely to have backgrounds involving a few jail or prison stays.

      5. The sex of the person shot, and the person being shot at, is likely to be male.

      6. Among the two people (shooter and person being shot at), a high school diploma is lacking.

also you could throw in economic status from the area where he was shot and has relatives according to poster above. so must have been living in that area for a long while.

I also read a statistic somewhere about the number of shootings that happen after an argument might seem to be over.

Meaning, the guy goes home (to his car, whatever) to retrieve a gun, and then returns a short time later to shoot at his opponent.

"you might be bigger than me, but if you are still here when I return, I will blow you away"
