I'm formally summoning the creative and intellectual powers of all the good people here on Brooklynian...

You have successfully helped me solve lesser problems and I figure you can help again. I hope.

I'm trying to find a very specific textbook called, "Vergil's Aeneid: Selections from Books 1,2,4,6,10, and 12" written by Barbara Weiden Boyd.

If anyone happens to have a copy they could lend for the weekend or perhaps knows of an excellent bookstore that specializes in the classics somewhere in the city, that would be AMAZING!

Thanks ahead of time for your help!

Here's a link to show you what I'm looking for:

These are great sites, but I guess I should have made it clearer that I'm trying to have the book in-hand this weekend. Impossible? Perhaps. Let's hope not.

      Did you try Strand books?

Tried calling Strand, they won't verify their stock of foreign language books over the phone. Darn racists... might require a trip up.

The Strand has a web site, you can check inventory, pay for it and mark it for instore pickup. I have never worked it this way so cannot vouch for the effectiveness but the few times I found a book in the online inventory it was on the shelf when I went to the store the same afternoon.

^the best use of the website is:

      1. check website for availability

      2. call and put said book on hold

      3. go buy book (at in-store price, usually a buck cheaper than the web)

i don't think you can do this on the weekend, though, since i don't think they take "hold" calls on those days (bc they're too busy).

nonetheless, the website is great for checking inventory. you might also call unnameable books. i assume you've already checked the library.
