Subject: St. Mark's and Ralph shooting

This evening a Keyspan worker was shot while working at a job site on St. Marks and Ralph Ave. He is in stable condition and as far as I know the shooter is on the loose. Don't have any further details at this time.

There have been alot of shootings down near Rochester, Buffalo and Ralph. There were a few shootings on Portal as well. Be alert in that area.
And that's the way it is.

I'd be shocked if more than three people on this board have ever (or will ever) be on that corner. Needless to say, I'm not surprised to hear of a shooting in that area. Not the safest of places.

i can't imagine what that means, that people on this board don't care about their community even if it is a little past their nose?

that block is the borderline between the 77th & the 73rd precincts, so i am not sure which it falls in,

but for me it is helpful to understand the sum total of what our (very large) precinct is up against

and it helps me to put the nypd statistics in perspective

and actually, i have gone to meetings on bergen & rochester, 2 blocks away,

      so,

      what was your point?
the further you go out on a limb, the harder it is to keep your balance
      balance is overrated

It happened on the 77 side.

The area east of Utica Ave (basically until you hit the Queens border) is pretty sketchy. The 77 covers up to Ralph Ave but things get even worse once you cross over to the 73 side.

There isn't much of a reason to be on that side of town if you don't live there so I don't totally disagree with one poster who said that he doubts any of us go over there. Once again my message is vigilance. Be aware of your surroundings. There are alot of guns on the street in this neighborhood.
And that's the way it is.
