Disclaimer: I haven't seen this posted anywhere, so sorry if it's a double post.

St. Marks Gardens between Franklin and Classon Aves is accepting applications. The deadline is this Friday (Jul 22). Maybe someone needs "affordable" housing. The building is next to the S line, so I don't know how soundproof it is, but it's close to the new Compare supermarket and right off of Franklin.

Good luck, if you decide to apply.

while posting them here is a good idea, lotteries for affordable housing can also be found on the NYC Housing Preservation and Development, and The NYS Housing and Community Renewal websites.

The process is very competitive. Good luck!

    3. Yes, there will no doubt be thousands of applications. But fornately many of the applicants will have terrible credit, no credit, be unemployed, have no savings, be afraid of neighborhood because they live in the Bronx (go figure!)or some other foolishness, so if you're actually eligible, you may have a good shot at it.

I was excited for a moment - I thought that this might be a community garden with individual plots like the one on St Marks between Vanderbilt and Underhill...

...not that there's anything wrong with that.

I hear the screening process for garden plots are less intense.

Question 1: Do you agree not to pick other people's tomatoes?

It may be less intense, but I think that the waiting list is considerably longer...

How long is the wait list for garden plots?

When I last read abut the wait list for NYCHA, it was something like 10 years.

After they are filled via a lottery, I think the HCR and HPD programs maintain wait lists, but I don't know how long they are.

Damn, we can't even easily grow vegetables

Perhaps we should start taxing the people who get free garden plots...

I would, but they don't have much money.

I decided to come black Blacker and more rhetorically dangerous:

These are fucked up things to say.. Always striving for privileges... Always trying to be 'better than'..... In my dictionary, scrawled with distaste beside the word that beside describe most of y'all is the word parasite. Always were, always will be.

Whynot now that I know who you are, I'm gonna personally get in your face.

      Without US you are nothing.

MHA, read the new Terms of Service before you get in anyone's face:

You agree to refrain from ethnic slurs, religious intolerance, homophobia, and personal attacks when using the Website."

If you violate these Terms you will be banned.

Gotta say though you are trying to ban what it means to be human and in its stead replace it with crappy humanist ideals. Don't see how cussing is a bad thing, but alas ain't my site. Predict a homogenized future for the Brooklynian; ah well.

Case in point: Not construing as implicitly RACIST (and at the least PREJUDICED) those who classify individuals that apply for these apartments as not having good credit and are unemployed amongst other things, is amazing -- despite your rules.

So yeah, kvetch at my f-bombs, yet allow 'folk to say the stuff that they say to convince themselves that they are the anointed.

What exactly is 'homophobia'? Is that like 'anti-semitism'? You know, when saying anything critical about gay behavior is tantamount to wanting to put them in ovens? Can one be critical without the critique being construed as bias, or is there no room for that? I mean, I'm critical of a number of things about Israel, and I really don't think that puts me in the same club as the Nazis. When you try to traffic thought, you end up doing more harm than good. Want to ban cussing? I'm actually cool with that, but to ban what you construe as 'hate'? That absolutely a subjective political act which makes no sense whatsoever. That's anti-intellectual behavior.
