Any idea what's going into the old tattoo place on Franklin Avenue just south of Park Place? I know the guys moved further south into a place next to Dutch Boy (I wish they had an awning so it looked as good as their work is!) but yesterday as I walked past their other shop I saw a huge renovation - new counters, walls, floor, etc. Any idea? It's really small...

I agree about the awning--it's an eyesore on an otherwise decent stretch of Franklin Av. I wish they'd take down that metal skeleton where Diana's old awning used to be. Or put up one of their own.

I also heard rumblings about a salad/sandwich shop in the old tattoo shop space. Would love it!

Yeah - for a place that literally is selling aesthetics ... it doesn't look so good.

Went in for a salad today (soft opening). I am psyched for their opening, but obviously there are a lot of kinks.

$5 for a small salad with up to 5 toppings, $7 for a large salad with up to 7 toppings.
Toppings ranged from cheese to veggies to nuts to meat. There were some surprising options not there. The owner said he would be adding bagels, soups, and wraps in the coming weeks.

Things I want to tell them somehow:
1- Add a small refrigerated case with sodas/waters. Weird that I had to walk across the street to buy a soda.
2 - Make a large sign with the toppings so people can make their choices before starting the salad process. It'll increase the speed of the operation A LOT.
3 - Add the following toppings -- shredded cheddar cheese, corn, black beans, onions, croutons, tortilla strips, shredded carrots, apple slices, sunflower seeds...
4 - Get a serving spoon/tongs for each topping, not one tong for each salad. Because that means someone's chicken-tongs have touched the tomatoes and I'd rather not have that happening. Plus I think it would be quicker.

I got a base of mixed greens with goat cheese, chick peas, hard boiled egg, tomatoes, and walnuts. I didn't know what they had until I had already put in the cheese, tomatoes, and chick peas, so it maybe wasn't the best mixing, but it was good none the less.

Very nice staff and they know they're working at half-speed as they figure out what is popular and not popular and how things are working.

I'd give them a week or so to figure these ideas out on their own.

If that doesn't work, I'd let them know directly or thru the Franklin Ave Merchants Assn.

Let's give all of the new businesses advice, so they do not disappear unnecessarily.

It's the same owner as the tattoo place still on Franklin. Lots of people owning 2+ spaces so close to one another...salads and tattoos (see above), candy and clothing (Candy Shop and About Time), and drinking and drinking (Crown Inn and Franklin Park and Dutchboy), and groceries and coffee (Bob & Betty's and The Pulp and the Bean).

I am very very very excited that they have opened up. @xlizellx thanks for always showing us merchants such great support!! About Time will go online and Kevin plans on doing something amazing with that spot... working on layout and plans now. In the meantime, some friends have asked to place their art work there until the build out process begins. We're thinking spring. Franklin Ave's following is growing and us merchants have tons of work to do in regards to keeping up with the demand and change. We promised Mike Fagan he'd be the 1st to know the name and kind of business coming. You guys are amazing and The Candy Rush is getting some good buzz about the crepes and hot cocoa. Cold Winter Ahead!!

Bella's is going to be another smashing hit on this avenue!!!!! I can't believe how we are developing.

Edited to add Nams and Pine Tree to that list.

Fine, I will follow your "on Frankin Ave" rule and format:

Discount general merchandise and unintentional memorial to the optimism of 2008 (Mazon Discount store, the vacant pit at the corner of Franklin and EP).

...two things on Franklin, both owned by same entity.

Do both locations have to be right on Franklin? If the second location is slightly off Franklin, do I still get credit?

Stacey Sheffy is a realtor who operates a realty office located less than a block off Franklin Avenue, at 925 Bergen Ave.

      http://sheffeyrealty.com/

She also operates the Crow Hill Community Garden, located on Franklin Avenue.

      One operator, two locations.

I think this submission should qualify.
