Once upon a time, the internet was newer and perceived as cooler than it is now. A local message board, Brooklynian, thrived from the contributions of people who lived near each other yet had never met in real life.
The idea of celebrating Festivus was born. For seven years in a row, the strange events were held:
As time went on, the events became not only a chance to meet new people, but to see long lost posters who remarkably have achieved somewhat productive lives.
To my surprise, last year's event attracted approximately twenty-five (25) misfits. Although I have never been sure what this event is about, I think this is a fine year to do again.
Let the NYPD and all other interested parties be advised that this year's event will be held at Franklin Park on December 21, in the "big room", from 8 PM - closing.
All are welcome ...especially curious onlookers, sociologists, and psychologists.
The hunt for a suitable Festivus Pole has begun.
