Looks like there may have been an abrupt stop and a series of rear-endings happening, but I don't know. By the time I passed by on my way to work around 9:20ish, only the silver Honda-esque remained on the scene. At the time I thought he'd possibly jumped the curb and hit the tree, but thought that might not be the case because there was a parking meter between its badly damaged hood and the tree that, although damaged, was not knocked over. The airbags were deployed, so hopefully no one in the cars or on the sidewalk were hurt.
Damn. That's one badass parking meter.
