After just about a decade in Crown Heights, my wife, two kids and I have moved to Bed-Stuy, along the Marcus Garvey corridor. We traditionally very rarely eat out or order in (we cook a lot), but in the two weeks of packing/moving/unpacking, we have not done a lot of cooking.

Thus far, we've eaten at or ordered from a pizza place I can't remember, Jeffrey's on Marcus Garvey (very good, but high end... probably special occasions only), Peaches on Lewis (also good, not overly expensive but probably also not something we'd do every week due to price) and, last night, the Peaches off-shoot Peaches Hothouse on Tompkins (fantastic fried chicken).

Any recommendations on take-out in the area? The standards, like decent Chinese and pizza? Fish and Chips? Anything else of note?

      Thanks in advance!

You've got to try Royal Rib House (NC BBQ- Halsey and Throop?)and the Halsey Street Grill (Soul Food- Halsey and Thompkins).

    3. Another "special occasion" pizza place is Saraghina at Halsey & Lewis. Very good.

Also not sure if this counts as nearby, but we had omelets & coffee at this French cafe recently. Very good.

Haven't looked for good cheap chinese food around here, but Due Fratelli Pizza at DeKalb & Marcus Garvey is good.

      Thanks all!

We walked over to the Halsey Street Grill sometime last week, but the line was too long. Also, was expecting a sit down/take-out place, and was disappointed to discover it was really just take-out.

Yeah, Royal and Halsey Street are both take-out only (Halsey Street is actually on Seamless Web). But the food is good and priced right.

Rocco's gets 90% (21 votes) on Urbanspoon. Have you tried the stuffed pizza?

Definitely try Due Fratelli Pizza (894 Dekalb Ave).
      Highly recommended!

      Hi all,

Tried Due Fratelli a few days ago, extremely reasonably priced and very good! Thanks for the suggestion.
