Large groups of cops

      I always see cops in groups of 4-8 along Fulton, especially at the Nostrand stop. I'm not talking about when they're responding to an incident, just on patrol/standing there. I get they want to show a strong "presence" or whatever, but wouldn't it be more effective to have them in pairs spread out in different parts of the precinct, rather than half a dozen or more all in the same spot? Anybody know the reasoning behind this?
