Can anyone explain to me what's the deal with the motorcycle gangs roaming up and down Fulton Street on the weekends? I see them revving their engines, riding on the left side of the double yellow, pulling wheelies, and I just don't get it. Where did they come from, why are they here, and what am I missing?

"Gangs" -lol. There are a lot of guys in the community who enjoy taking their bikes out with friends on summer evenings. They often ride with fellow club-members and friends. It can be annoying, but not high up on my list. As the cold weather sets in they will park their rides to roll another day...

There weren't nearly this many of them on Fulton St in previous years.

It's a huge pain. They pop wheelies, rev their engines incredibly loud, ride against traffic. Really, really antisocial. Why can't they get quieter toys or ride somewhere that isn't a neighborhood full of pedestrians? Is anyone doing anything about this?

I used to ride motorbikes and understand how enjoyable it is to do it when the weather is nice. However I don't understand why they need to rev their engines so loud. It looks like they are a bunch of kids who like to show off.

As Putnam-denizen said, when the weather gets colder, you won't see them at all. A true rider with respectful values gets his bike out regardless of the weather.

I'm so glad that kind of shit doesn't happen outside the Imperial Bikers Club by me. They don't tolerate anything like that.

I have to say...I agree with the commenters on the NYT blog. I live on Fulton between S.Portland and S.Elliot and the motorcycle clubs that descend on Fulton and congregate at Habana on the weekends have made the past few months totally unbearable. Engines revving until 2 or 3am on Sunday night/Monday morning...it's horrible.

Can you believe the biker who claimed that parking his bike in front of the restaurant would bring in more customers? So retarded, completely helpless. Please let's do a fundraising in order to buy him a new brain.

The Imperial's been known to be nice to skinny white boys before.

I discovered Imperial Bikers was a coed club founded in the late seventies, with a focus on community service.

ha, well that's egg on my face. thanks for the link.

      you ever been inside?

i had heard about people shooting guns into the air outside of the bar a few times, so that put me off, but i guess it's not as bad as it seems.

btw, i read about your passed-on pooch in another thread. sorry to hear that. dog was a sweetheart the few times we crossed paths.

I haven't been inside only because I'm so antisocial and hate going out. But I know a few of the members and they're good people. If anyone acts up outside the club they take care of it pretty quickly. Check out this other article Joshua Bernstein wrote, pretty funny.

Thanks, Cheech was my boy. There will never be another dog like him.
