My nice warm winter coat got the zipper damaged and it needs to be replaced. Anyone know of a place where they can fix it? The zipper is about 28 inches long. I am going to a sewing store to buy a similar zipper, I just need to know of someone who does a good job replacing zippers at a not exorbitant cost. I checked yelp and found two places in Park Slope but was wondering if there was someone closer by. Thanks so much.

Most dry cleaners have tailors who can replace zippers; so can many shoe repair shops.

I had a zipper replaced on a leather jacket at one of the shoe repair places in Grand Central Terminal, it cost around $30, far less than a replacement jacket. There are two tailors on Washington Avenue between Lincoln Place and Sterling Place (not sure which of the two blocks), they both do pretty good work. My husband got a coat remade at one of them and they did a very good job at a very reasonable price.

I've used the spot on 5th Avenue called Bay Ridge French Cleaners for a zipper and another "fixes" in the past. They're not in bay ridge, they don't seem to be french but they're cheap and do a pretty good job. They did my wife's north face zipper last year and it was great! Here's a link to their citysearch info...

      Good luck!
