i live on 8th ave btwn 19th and 20th and giant trucks fly up the hill on 20th st all day long and literally shake my house from top to bottom. has anyone experienced this? It has caused a lot of cracks in the walls inside the house and I'm nervous about what it's doing to the foundation. we have a sink hole in the middle of our street that seems to be aligned with the gas and water pipes that lead to all of houses on the block. I think the trucks slamming over the manhole on 20th at high speed is causing the hole, anybody know how best to report this , to whom and what if anything can be done about it? Thanks

I don't mean to sound nasty but I guess I will... trucks have traveled on 20th Street for as long as there were trucks! If people don't like traffic where they live in NYC they shouldn't live on that block. I grew up on Prospect Ave, with the expressway, firehouse, and subway. We learned to live with it! If you don't like where you live MOVE! Brooklyn is NOT the suburbs.... that's why we live here..... I apologize ahead of time for my rant......WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH

Hmm, I would call 311 for that - if your walls are developing cracks, I feel like that's a serious problem! Not all Brooklyn streets are like that & I'm sorry for your bad luck in location...[Insert witty comment here]

You can contact CB7 718-854-0003, but I'll be honest and tell you the CB and residents have been fighting that truck route for years. DOT does not seems to care, unfortunately.A word or two from the highest point in Brooklyn--Greenwood Hts.

Thanks very much for the excellent advice re contacting the cb7c
