Check out this new funding opportunity for NonProfits in Brooklyn - The turnaround time on these grants is extremely short; proposals are due at the end of next week and money will be awarded before the end of the month, so that it can be immediately put to use. Please do not wait to apply!
The Brooklyn Recovery Fund is a joint effort between the Brooklyn Community Foundation, the Office of the Brooklyn Borough President, and the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce to create a pooled fund to provide support to Brooklyn’s nonprofit organizations working with the communities and individuals most affected by Super Storm Sandy.
Just one week old, the Fund has already raised nearly $1 million, including a number of six-figure leadership gifts and hundreds of smaller contributions from a broad spectrum of Brooklynites. We are moved beyond words by Brooklyn’s incredible generosity. You’ll find more about the fund at http://www.BrooklynRecoveryFund.org.
The grants from the Recovery Fund will respond to large-scale community-wide coordination work as well as more narrowly focused rebuilding and service provision efforts. This two-pronged approach allows the Fund to address immediate emergency needs while laying the groundwork for broad based, long-term community rebuilding.
