Assata was last seen on Halsey between Nostrand and Bedford on 6/13/12 at 7pm. She has an all grey coat and green eyes. She is small and weighs about 5 lbs. She's very shy and timid. Her sister and owner are missing her dearly!

Please call Keedra at 347-743-2379 if you see her!!!

In case you've never had a lost cat to worry about, I'm pasting Fido's (Brooklyn dog group) suggestions below.

"Unlike dogs, cats who leave by the front door, generally don't go very far from home but they may remain reclusive nonetheless: hanging out in basement entrances; nearby construction sites or storage areas - any place where the hunting is good

For the cat that escapes into the back yards, posters all the way around the block really helps!"

^^^ great advice. Also, knock on all your neighbors doors with a flier and ask them to keep an eye out for your cat in their backyard areas and basements. Scared cats have been known to somehow get through the hatches and seek shelter down there.

      From the Pet Board:

Don't *only* use this forum. While posting here has helped a lot of people find homes for pets, it's hardly the most highly-trafficked place online for this sort of thing. Please also post about your pet to Petfinder.com:

      http://www.petfinder.com/

FIDO maintains a page of local lost/found http://www.fidobrooklyn.org/rescue/adoption.html

There are also some photo pools on Flickr you should post to, including:

If you must give up a pet before you've found a home for it, please consider a no-kill shelter. The closest one I know of is BARC in Williamsburg:

      http://www.barcshelter.org/home/index.html

Another possibility is the Little Shelter in Huntington, on Long Island:

      http://www.littleshelter.com/

And Petfinder keeps a searchable database of other shelters and animal rescue groups here:

^^ Some of these may not be current. But it is a start.
