Are you looking for a great, high energy, full body workout with an inspiring teacher? Are you free any weekdays?
We are trying to find a few more people for our workout class with Karen Munson at Spoke the Hub Dancing – 748 Union Street (@6th Ave). We now do it on Wednesdays (Step and Sculpt) from 1-2:30 and Sundays from 11-12:30 (Super Sunday Workout). We would like to add a Monday and Friday session (Floor or Step) at 1:00-2:30.
Karen’s class will kick your butt (in the best way possible). She combines aerobics, weights, lots of core exercises, abdominals, and a deep, excellent, stretches. The music is really inspiring – no prepackaged monotonous pop – its everything from Michael Jackson, old jazz, Phoebe Snow, classic R&B, Blues, to some driving current tunes and wonderful mellow things to cool down and stretch. She has a dancer’s sensibility for interesting moves – fun but not too complicated – just enough to make you totally not notice the pain.
I am going on 60 and determined to ski, dance, play tennis, run, for a long time to come. There are folks from their 20’s on up and you don’t have to be in great shape to enjoy it – you can go at your own pace, but you must want to push yourself. I also run and bike but can’t really push myself this hard without a class and a great teacher. As an aging athlete (aren’t we all?) I know this is the best thing I can possibly be doing for myself.
Karen is exceptionally knowledgeable about the body and how to train safely. I am sore the next day, for sure, but with the deep stretch and core training we do I am amazed at how good I feel. The sequence, care, full body workout and great boogie/dance sensibility definitely inspires me way more than any spin, run, swim
