Porpentine, a young, Brooklyn-based classical theater company, is producing an intimate rooftop production of Shakespeare's The Tempest, slated for this August. The idea of the show is that a quiet summer roof-party undergoes a sea-change after sunset, becoming the island setting of Shakespeare's riotous and troubling fantasy of control.
We're looking to rent/borrow/sublet/etc. a space for our performances. Our ideal is a medium-sized, private rooftop with a skyline view, suitable for a small summer rooftop party. We're hoping to accommodate approximately 20-30 audience audience members per show, as well as 10 actors. We're looking to present 8-12 shows in the evenings between August 17 & September 5.
If you, or someone you know, has a rooftop that seems like an enchanted retreat from the city, we'd love to speak to you/them about making some beautiful art there this summer!
Best,
