Arts nonprofit Art For Progress will present their inaugural weekend-long festival, “Brooklyn Beat Music and Arts Festival” June 1st-3rd at the Paper Box in East Williamsburg. To coincide with Bushwick Open Studios, the festival will feature a diverse line-up of live music performances, DJs, performance art, film screenings, video and fashion installations. Live music acts include Apollo Heights, Lachi, Ze Luis Quartet, Push Method, Argotec, and Redheadphone . DJs include hipster fave Punches, Jeannie Hopper of Liquid Sound Lounge, Bruce Tantum from Time Out NY, and Kervyn Mark from Melting Pot. Caridad Sola will curate provocative performance art throughout the space.
Revel under the stars in the outdoor art garden while you soak up compelling video and art installations, and participate in interactive fashion! Sunday will be for all ages, with organic cupcakes sponsored by Francescacake, and a special kid-centric musical performance by Jon Samson of CoCreative Music at 2pm. The Grammy-nominated Ze Luis Quartet will perform in the afternoon. In the evening, Gashouse Films will present a diverse selection of short films from NYC's emerging film talent. Food will be available for sale, with $3 PBRs all weekend. Don't miss Art for Progress at the Paper Box!
$5 cover. $8 after 9 fri and after 11 sat. Sunday all ages, free for kids 12 and under.
