Create, create, create!
The Irondale Center, home of the award winning Irondale Ensemble, announces its summer performing arts programs for young people between ages 7 and 14. Irondale will run three fun-filled and affordable programs specially designed to let young people experience acting, improvisation and the creation of original plays in a collaborative and supportive ensemble environment. All programs will be led and taught by members of the Irondale Ensemble, a highly acclaimed acting company comprised of professional performers and educators. Irondale has established and extensive outreach and educational programs in public schools, jails, special education facilities, shelters, housing facilities and youth centers. They bring 27 years of teaching experience to the summer program and infinite amounts of enthusiasm and encouragement to inspire the next generation of great artists, performers and creators.
About Summer programs:
Piecemakers Theater Workshop 1, July 5 – 8 & 11-15 (for students entering grades 2-4)
Create your own stories and put them on stage! This high energy workshop combines the basics of improvisation, storytelling, creative movement, and music to create a truly one-of-a-kind theatre piece. This program will includes a short presentation for family & friends on Friday, July 15 at 6:00pm
Piecemakers: Theatre Workshop II, July 18-Aug 5 (for students entering grades 5-8)
For this fast-paced 3-week session, performers will take a hands-on role in every aspect of creating and presenting their very own theatre piece. Led by Irondale’s veteran company of actors, the Piecemakers will not only discover how to combine improv, dance, and music into an exciting performance, they’ll also explore how to create sets, costumes, and tech! The session concludes with 2 public performances on 8/5 & 8/6.
