Nora Friedman holds a Masters of Music in Violin Performance from Brooklyn College where she studied with Masao Kawasaki. She has 11+ years violin teaching experience and is a native New yorker. Most recently Ms. Friedman developed and ran the violin program at the Excellence Boys Charter School of Bedford-Stuyvesant. Before that she founded the violin program at the High School for Violin and Dance in the South Bronx. Currently she is on the violin faculty at the Elisabeth Morrow School in Englewood, NJ, the Thurnauer School of music in Tenafly, the Preparatory Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College, and the Brooklyn/Queens Conservatory of Music in Park Slope. She spent many years working alongside her mentor and formative violin teacher, Roberta Guaspari, the Artistic director of Opus 118 Harlem School of Music and the subject of the movie, "Music of the Heart." She is also a registered member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas. Ms. Friedman has performed with many bands and area orchestras.
