“My Character Book!” takes an easy and fun approach to teaching children the basics of figure drawing for humans and animals, using mixed media like paper, pencils, markers and shapes. Throughout the 6-week course, children will practice their figure drawing skills to create their own “portfolio” book of their favorite people to bring home and share, which can include family, friends, teachers, pets, or anyone else who inspires them!
Classes run for 1 hour each week, allowing time for basic guided instruction and follow-along, as well as 10 minutes of “show & tell” at the end of each class. The goal is to give each child an opportunity to share and celebrate what they created and what inspired them, in a safe, friendly & fun environment. Sharing is encouraged, but not necessary, and children who are more comfortable sharing their work privately with the teacher instead of the group are equally encouraged to do so. Classes are kept to a 10 child limit so as to provide individual attention.
