Tonight. Who do I call to find out what happened and how long he will rot in the tank?

She didn't say he was guilty, she said he was arrested.

Snarkslope--she wants to know how long he will "rot in the tank." Odd to want an innocent person to rot in the tank. And, Scarlett, did you see him commit the crime or just get arrested?

Call the precinct, and ask the clerk. Not sure if they'll give you the info, but its worth a try. Let them know you were a witness, but didn't get contact info from the arresting officers.

Does anyone know if this is 78 or 72?

Photogirl, I was victim and witness. As a result of these crimes I will likely have to move and just want to know how long I have before he gets out and comes looking for me.

ugh Scarlett sorry to hear about that bullshit... but dude can be out as early as tuesday because of the holiday .. courts closed on monday.as for how long he will stay in jail depends on the charges and if they set a bail .. if no bail is set then when he goes to court on tuesday he can walk.. until his next court date

You should reach out to the Office of Victims Services. They might be able to help you with regards to expenses you incur as well as keeping you posted on the status of the case. The Brooklyn office is located at:

      New York City
      55 Hanson Place
      Room 1000
      Brooklyn, NY 11217-1523

      Scarlett-

Supreme has good advice re: the guy getting arraigned and then released on bail.

This map will help you figure out what pct you are in:
      http://www.nyc.gov/html/nypd/html/precinct_maps/precinct_maps.shtml

Once you call the pct to find out the name of the guy, you can go to this link to see if he is incarcerated.

      http://iapps.courts.state.ny.us/webcrim_attorney/DefendantSearch

From there, you can get his docket number. Once you have his docket number, you can call the Kings Co. DAs office and state that you are willing to help them get him convicted on the most serious conceivable charge.

Or, you can just register on the above link so the system will email you once he gets out.

For better or worse, the change on Nostrand is going to make the change on Franklin look minor.

Scarlett--sorry to hear that you were the victim of a crime. But Snarkslope, it is big difference to post something as a witness to an arrest and wanting to know how long the perpetrator will "rot" in jail and taking that position as the victim, which is understandable. And thanks for asking, my knees are good.

So I looked him up at that site- thanks whynot- and he has a pending misdemeanor case set for court in a few weeks. Would this encourage them to hold him longer? No way he has bail or anyone to bail him out. The charges are - I bet- disorderly conduct, destruction of public and private property, assault and who knows what else. Thoughts?

If said knucklehead is presently out on bail (or released on his own recognizance) for prior alleged offenses: Yes, the judge should make him at least have to post a bail (or larger bail....) this time around.

Although I know nothing about this incident, I predict he is one of the many characters that have long misdemeanor rap sheets, and are constantly in and out of jail. Without an involved victim, a lot of those charges you discuss often start out as felonies, then get pled down to a misdemeanors (hint: be as involved as you are brave enough to be!)

P.S. Glad you are somewhat ok Scarlett.

The precinct gave me some good information about where he was being held and to my surprise court is open today and I hope to find out later. Unfortunately I still can't get info from that site about this case so even if I sign up it won't tell me anything. Whynot, do you think if they throw him in Rikers it will be posted there? Thanks

People who are in Rikers are listed in this site, run by the Dept of Corrections:
      http://nysdocslookup.docs.state.ny.us/

The link I posted above is maintained by the court system, so it is more concerned about what people are alleged to have done and their court dates ...whereas as the Corrections Dept site is more focused on who is presently staying in their "wonderful" accommodations.

I think it is safe to assume Rikers is "wonderful" whenever one sees a criminal run from the police, or resist arrest.

P.S. For fun, type in your last name in the Dept of Corrections site.

I am pleased to report that only FOUR people with my last name have recently gotten accused of a crime and had the pleasure of a stay in wonderful Rikers.

Scarlett, how are your namesakes doing?

Whynot, how often do you think they'll update that thing? They won't tell me what happens to him when he finally sees the judge, only if he's seen one or not. He is ready to go to court but they are backed up and doubt he will be seen today. Official charges are resisting arrest (called something else tho like obstruction of justice) and criminal mischief. They keep telling me to go down there and I'm like hello, I am trying to get away from this person?

On another note, neither my old nor my new last name have a presence at Rikers. Take that!

I don't know how often they update the Dept of Corrections guest list, but I imagine it is once a day.

That way people can find out if thier roommate didn't come home because they got lucky or unlucky.

Congrats on having better namesakes than me.

If you have the docket number already call the arraignment part at criminal court and speak to the clerk. They may be able to give you the info or at least the ADA's name.
I hope that you are ok

No one with my last name is currently at Rikers, but two people with my last name are currently guests of other NYS Corrections-run "hotels", and two others have already been released.

      Ack!

The link I provided previously was for the STATE Dept of Corrections facilities! The four characters with my last name are doing prison time, as opposed to jail time.

Here's the link that shows the guests of the NYC Dept of Corrections, which would include guests of Rikers.

      Whoops.

Someone with my last name apparently spent three stretches in different state facilities 3 decades ago, but my great-uncle, a guest at Sing-Sing for 5 years, was not listed. I guess the on-line records don't go back that far.

jail = short term place to avoid, run by city

prison = long term upstate place to avoid, run by state

But regardless of semantics, this "care packages for inmates" service states his temporary home is shared by 2000 others. (OBCC is just one of several facilities on Rikers)

Scarlett if you are seriously concerned about this person actually coming after you as soon as he is released you should be extremely proactive concerning your safety.

Not knowing what crime occurred it's difficult to give accurate advice but you do have options, moving is an extreme one and I would only consider it personally if I was positive that someone was going to kill-badly injure me.

You can get restraining orders, mace, other weapons that may or may not be legal, someone to break his fucking legs when he's released?

Just saying that I hate to see anyone bullied, victimized or intimidated.

So, I'm a bit curious now.... I have to assume you know this "dude" and this wasn't some random assault. Seems you have his first and last name and he has a good idea of your whereabouts on the outside.

Which leads me to a few questions: 1) WTF happened? 2) He must be charged with something, right? 3) If he is charged, and you're the witness then why the hell aren't the cops in contact with you?

Same here as DR...what happened? Robbery? Attack?

With all the violent crime going on in SSP, GWH and SPS, you'd think the cops would be more "on it."

And whose fault is that? I blame the regulars, the selective editing (mods), and the naivete with regard web baiting and childish retaliations.

      Okay, Kettle...

And the maturity drum just keeps on banging... So long as I act like an asshole, it's okay if the rest of you do? Cool - so we are all 8 yrs old on this board.

Also, not sure when it became okay for someone to publicly call their ex-bf a drunken psycho who got his ass arrested... frankly, it borders on defamation of character as the bf in question is clearly known by many members of this board. Not to mention the legality of a plaintiff or key witness openly discussing an active criminal case.

Does this airing of grievances in a semi-anonymous setting somehow make one feel better? Or do you all really have nothing better to do?
